Looking for some help replacing Vanos.

Hey everyone, I have a 95 M3 that I just ordered a DrVanos stage 1 unit for among some other parts I plan on replacing while in there. I feel comfortable doing most of the job but I am not 100% with the removal/installation of the vanos. I'm wondering if there is someone on here who has experience with this and could help me complete the job. I have no problem paying someone with cash/beer or whatever they prefer. I'm located in Essex county about 30 minutes outside of Boston.

Butters has done a few but typically charges a minimum of 2 cases of low carb monster drinks ($27 a case at Sams Club last week) for side work not at his shop. He is probably a 45 minute drive in tax free Manchester NH.

I'm not a Sam's club member but I'll check some local super markets and see what I come across. Do you have cam blocks and a vanos wrench or is that something I should rent?

I can get regular or the ultra variety pack of monster. Costco doesn't seem to sell low carb.

A Monster drink connoisseur knows what he likes. I know the low carb version exists because I buy them also.

Someone with a good amount of knowledge in the automotive industry willing to give a fella a hand is usually tough to come by as well. Apparently we have found the tougher of the 2. ; )

I drove up to Chris's place today and was able to tackle the Vanos rebuild with the assistance of Chris and Phil. In the process we did find my intake cam timing was off and were able to correct that. With the timing corrected and a new vanos unit installed the car drives a whole lot better. It is much smoother throughout the rev range and definitely a bit more powerful. If anyone on here has a job they're nervous to tackle themselves, I highly recommend contacting Chris to help you out. You'll save some money on labor and learn something new. Thanks again for your help guys.

    Our pleasure.
If you hadn't brought those monster drinks, I probably wouldn't have pointed out your timing was off. Any time tho, now go ahead and pop your head gasket so we can do that too, it will be fun.

I think that 95 M3 is ready for the dragstrip on August 6 at NED in Epping, NH. Weather permitting, a few of us in MA and NH and maybe CT will be going. We should have people in the 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s so no one should feel out of place and all are welcome.

Haha, those monster's were a savior. As much as I'd like to learn some more about my car, a head gasket isn't in the budget right now. Though when that time comes, I'll make sure to let you know.

I should be able to make that, never run at the strip before so that should be a good time.
