BMW announced today that it has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the company’s intent to voluntarily recall all model year 2000 – 2006 BMW 3 Series vehicles, produced between May 1999 and August 2006, to replace the passenger-side front airbag as part of a worldwide recall.

Definitely will be on the lookout for when the recall campaign gets under way ... my mom owns a 7/99 (2000 model year) 323i.
Thanks for posting!
Any idea if this includes the Z3's and M variants?

lol #e46problems
dont see it mentioning that anywhere, 3 series had a different airbag setup then Z3/Z4's. M's are likely affected, since they share those components with the base 3 series.
It says affected owners will get something in the mail, but probably a wise idea to call your local dealership to ask about it, or at least let them know your address so they can send the recall notice to you if one of your cars is affected.

Pretty cool for a car manufactury to recall something 15 years old.
