- E36 heated seats
-
I'm swapping my destroyed non-heated sports seats out and installing some new low mile heated ones to take there place. My question is, how do I get the heat to work on the new seats? I don't want to run wires to the fuse box either, I was thinking I'll just run them to the cig lighter, but I don't know which wires to run to the switches and which ones to the lighter.
Thanks!

I foresee a car fire in your future. Do it right or don't do it at all.

Yeah running wires to the fusebox and doing it properly is such a pain. Just ghetto rig it. That is a much better idea when dealing with electricity and heating elements.

You need the OE wiring harness. It incorporates the switches, a relay, correct connectors, and a fuse. Not only will it properly wire the car to avoid a fire, but it gives you OE-designed heat control with the switches.
The harness is about $200 new. I pulled mine out of a parts car and it was a nightmare. You only need to run two wires to the fusebox.
