Hi guys, my stock radio wont play tapes properly, and I'm looking for a stock replacement. Also, my radio just plays static on every channel. I traced the antenna wire and it all looks solid, not pinched or scuffed at all. However, with my multimeter, it shows 6 mega ohms through the cable when it should show 0 to 2 ohms. I guess if no one has a quick fix, I'm looking for an antenna assembly as well.
I have one that's missing all the knobs. But I guess you already have those parts... I'll take a pic, if you like it i'll test it out.
If it works it's yours for shipping.

I'll gladly take it if the connectors are the same. Could you take a pic of the back?
It looks like there is a filter in black shrink wrap (far left).

I would also like to add that I'm looking for a non A/C console, should I make a new thread?
Yeah I got it. I'll msg you today.
Anyone else with an old stock radio laying around?
Tape players have a rubber belt inside that gets stuck to the pulleys after years of non use and then breaks or just stays stuck. Take it apart and see if you can find a new one. It needs to be an actual tape player belt, not just a rubber band. Might be hard to find these days.
My father in law would have fixed this but he's been retired for about 15 years now. He'd say the same thing as Layne with the belt. They get all nasty and sticky after a while. There is nothing like cleaning all the pulleys and guides with cleaner and then finding some rubber belt to apply the proper tension to the entire setup.
I still drive daily with no commute...

I have always wondered, is the stock radio the following model which I have in my 1980?
Blaupunkt
In Dash (Flat Control) Auto-reverse Cassette player with AM/FM
Model CR-5001
I've cleaned the belt, it's not stuck really, just sticky. The tape wont load in, you have to manually slide a rail. Obviously you wouldn't be able to access it while it was installed. Mine looks like this, so I guess some early e30 radios would work too?

Yes the radio above fits/works in e21. I believe some late e21's got it from factory. And early e30's. Same wiring and all. Plug and play.
