    '03 M62 4.4, over 180k miles.

    Never seen snow, garaged for around 2 weeks each time roads are salted/sanded.

    This all I got for now. Will take more pics soon. This is from last year when I first got her. Just finished doing the timing guides. Runs like a champ now. Also did new exhaust system.

    My wife really wants an X5 now that she's driven the 740iL. Would you say it would be the same to maintain as our e38s? M72tu until '03 correct?

    thanks for the kind words. as far as the x5 maintenance versus our e38's, i would say its about the same. these engines i feel are very solid if properly maintained. and yes M62tu's were used up til 2003. funny thing is my wife didnt care for either one of my cars before i got them. and then after riding in them she was cool. i personally am enjoying my x5 as my new daily driver and i put the e38 up for hibernation during the winter.

    Boy, I can't believe it took that long for someone to catch that! I new something didn't sound right when I wrote it.

    Anyway, does anyone have any insight into the M54 vs M62 X5s. I know the M62tuB44 pretty well now, and I have owned an e39 with the M54B30. I just don't have any knowledge of the X5 issues that I would have to deal with. I'm looking to replace a Volvo XC90 which is becoming the Never Ending Story of repairs, and that's coming from an e38 owner!
