The high boost drops about 40 wtq in about 400 rpm. Its a small percentage from the 660, but its eye catching.

So if the vanos timing was in fact the culpret to the high boost run, it has little if no efect at the low boost conditions.
I mentioned the fact regarding boost amount because it is associated with flow. This changes the backpressure which can change the power curve a lot regardless of vanos and tune. However, a combination of vanos and boost and back pressure could be creating the cocktail which is causing the "camel hump" of torques.
Where have I been? Astral projecting.

Interesting.. although it still seems like an abrupt TQ drop... When is VANOS set to turn off? Seems like if it is VANOS related it might have been able to carry the TQ to a smoother drop by extending the intake came a little longer?

Very impressive and successful build. Congrats. I bet the combo of the E39 and that motor makes for a nice overall drivers car. Good luxury and big power on tap whenever it asked for.

T4 flange cross sectional area of the opening is virtually the same as a T3 and a 6466 shares the same turbine. I don't see it making much a difference at all unless your turbine A/R was very different.

Thank you! I was just about to ask because those were the numbers I remembered, and I was positive on it having a T3 .82 housing.

    To OP,

Awesome!!! Love the numbers. I bet that you can obtain the same numbers on water and meth with your DP setup.

Awesome build and even better numbers! Car must be a blast to drive. Hopefully, I'll be putting your old exhaust setup for the e36 to good use here shortly

It was cold here today and the motor loved it, and the drag radials hated it. I was doing 4th gear pulls today and it would break loose on spool up at like 70-80 and continue skating until like 110+. It was crazy. I did a few 3rd gear tire shredding pulls and then it would still break loose on initial spool in 4th and then hook throughout the top of 4th gear. Unfortunately it looks like the boost will be getting turned down soon and the all seasons will be getting mounted on the back. Such a tease to get the car together at this point in the season! Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

This also shows what a great tune can do. Very nice.

Do the ball bearing precision turbos share similar issues as the JB turbos do. I seemed to just cross off precision from my list. But , this shows how capable they are, now the next question is durability .

I told her that some dude with a sexy red shoe was determined to see my old man sedan do burnouts. She still said no.
In true old man fashion, I'll be balls deep in a wonderful weekend of demolishing my tile shower, replacing plumbing, and installing a new shower. Yayyyyyyyyyyyy. You guys be safe and keep 'em going straight!

Hey man cool bmw like what you have done to yours. Im in Norfolk va and I have a e39 528i and want to know what turbo kit I should get to push 20 psi. I'm buying the MLS head gasket and arp studs. Do I need to change to the S52 cams or can I just boost the stock engine and be happy. What is a estimated cost to install and tune my car

    BUUUUUUUMMMMMMP!

Eric, do you have any pictures of the 3rd iteration of the W/M install? I see you mentioned that you moved the nozzles to the plenum area, and I would love to know how it is working for you, along with actually seeing what it looks like now.
