Thumbs up Eson's ///M Coupe - Long Term Journal

    Hey Fellas,
Coming from a history of Porsche racecars, a track-prepared R53 Mini, S52 M Coupe, E46 M3, and a few more interesting cars here and there, I've been a long time lurker - so I figured it was time to show my newly purchased M Coupe and begin documenting it's slow transformation.. Although I'm making a journal mostly for my own documentation and viewing pleasure (or lack of?), I'll try to help the community as much as possible. So, comments and criticism are encouraged.

    Without further ado, here's my 2001 S54 M Coupe:
1 of 12 - Titanium silver on dark grey / black
Purchased bone stock in Sept. 2013

    Suspension:
    Ground Control coilovers
Ground Control spherical bearing race camber plates
Ground Control "tall" rear shock mounts
    Status Gruppe adjustable endlinks
H&R 28mm adjustable front sway bar w/ polyurethane inserts
    Ireland Engineering polyurethane subframe bushings
    Ireland Engineering polyurethane RTABs
    Turner Motorsport delrin race FCABs
    "Strong Strut" tower brace
    OE///M X-brace

    Drivetrain:
    AKG 75D polyurethane motor mounts
    AKG 75D polyurethane transmission mounts
UUC oval delrin shifter carrier bushings
Turner Motorsport SS braided clutch line
    CDV delete

    Brakes:
    355mm Rotora 4pot BBK front
    335mm Rotora 4pot BBK rear
    Hawk HP pads
Turner Motorsport SS braided brake lines w/ banjo bolt adapters

    Wheels/tires:
    90mm Vorshlag bullet-nose studs
    HyperBlack 18" Apex ARC8's
    Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions

    Motor:
    Stock motor/tune
    Magnaflow 14815 mufflers
    K&N panel air filter

    Other:
Z8 push start button (on order)
    iND shift knob
Whalen anodized black aluminum hood release
    LeatherZ magnetic stone guards
    clear corner lights
    front OEM mud flaps

Ahh so you're the gentleman who bought Mr. Rand's car. congrats. We like your taste in vehicles and yes, that Long nose porsche should have never left your family's garage. I'd lose sleep over that one.

I'm going to be picking up another set of OEM roadstars in really rough shape, and have decided to make a weekend project out of refinishing them.
Which color do you think the roadstars should be powdercoated considering my car is titanium silver?
    Mag blue, bronze, or gunmetal?

    Thanks in advance all

Of course, my option was very low-cost compared to powdercoating:

Wow, looks great.. If I go with gunmetal, I think I'd take your advice of a black base coat. Would've never thought of that..
That pearlizer seems to work wonders... Maybe I'll dip em and use it as a real life photoshop until I can decide... thanks!!

A medium-to-dark gunmetal on a silver car is a great combo. Keep it glossy though. Flat colors on Roadstars tend to make them look even worse than they already are. :P

It is a signature Volk/Rays Engineering color:

    -2019 F31 Individual (M-Sport, Prem, Exec, Track)
    -2004 Honda CRV

Thanks ! Hopefully see you around.
I'm planning on going darker than those wheels appear, but yup that's the idea.

EDIT: those pics above actually look like Prototype blue

    11/2 -

Installed the Magnaflow 14815s.. Thankfully managed to get the tips sitting pretty well after heating up the metal hangers and playing with the rubber OEM ones.

... In other news, hoping to be able to drop off my extra Roadstars to get powdercoated gunmetal within the next few weeks.
Anyone interested in the full polished aluminum ones pictured above, they should be for sale soon !

    Enkei NT03-M's
Had 2 sets of them for my race car, great wheels, light and strong.

I've been thinking about them for track use for my car.

Please post what size / offsets you use and how the fitment goes.

    Nice choice !

Thanks! I'll be running 235/40/18, 285/35/18 RS3's. As for the fitment/camber/spacers, they are 18x8.5 ET38 (F) - and I imagine I'll have to use a small spacer to clear the strut, and a decent amount of negative to clear on the outside. As for the rears, 18x10 ET25 - I'll have to measure how large of a spacer to aesthetically use once I install. I'm thinking I'll run -2.5F, -2R, we'll see.

I'll post pictures when it's all done next month.

Up front, you should be able to run 12mm without a dramatic amount of camber, particularly with 235s. For the rear, you'll want 15, maybe up to 20mm. My 18x10 w/285s are ET18, and 12mm puts them flush... HOWEVER, if you are planning to run 'flush' out back, please note that (especially with 35 series 285s) it would be wise to roll or trim your inner fender lip in order to avoid potentially cutting your sidewall...

I won't be running larger than a 15mm spacer in the rear, but a fender roll will be done prior to my new wheel setup. I'm running a 12mm up front right now with OEM Roadstars mounted on 235/45 BFGoodrich sport comp. 2's (run wide) w/ about -1.5 and it's flush on the driver side, and set inward a few mm on the passenger side.. Weird.. I'll have to dial it in when time comes.
