List of 210mm, large case differential BMW's

I've been looking for diff alternatives for my E46 M3. It has the large case, 210mm differential, with 8 bolts on each side. (Medium, 188mm cases have 6 bolts.) Basically it's all the "big" 6 cyl, the v8 and v12 cars. I started compiling a list of other models with the large case. Originally I wanted to find a cheaper alternative to find a 3.91 or 4.10 rear, it's been tough to find and I'll probably just end up purchasing a new, built unit with a true LSD. Anyway I figure that a list like this could be useful to someone else so why not post it up? Feel free to confirm or correct me, also if you know the correct gearing I'll update it as necessary.

    Large 210mm Case BMWs:

    -E24 M6
    -E31 850 (auto 3.64)
    -E34 M5 before 6/94= 3.91
    -E36 Euro (w/3.2l) M3
    -E38 730, 740 (V8s), 750 (v12)
    -E39 535, 540, M5 (all V8)

E34 540 and E32 740 and 750 also used the large case diffs; not sure of the ratios.

Bringing this one back. I'm interested to know the 210mm diff differences and parts interchangeability.

I can get a 97 740iL diff for 20$ if I go pull it. Assuming its a shit ratio, but I can buy different ring and pinion for a few hundred and a mount kit from rallyroad and be good to go? Or only the e32 750i's?

You are not the first person to ask such a question. If the answer was yes, you would be reading about it.

E46 M3 diff size is literally in the first sentence of this thread

E92 M3 and E60 M5 are 215 diffs and not easily swappable with anything else
