Intercooler piping is done, exhaust is all tacked up to the tail section. Megasquirt has been assembled. Basically need to run pcv/vacuum lines, finish the interior, then the full rear end rebuild, which the lower camber arms came today, so were ready to roll.

No maf, internal map sensor. I finished up all the vacuum/pcv lines today already. Going back to work on some more interior things. Pretty much done underhood, may even try to fire it tonight.

Wiring question for you or anyone: is the VSS on the transmission even needed ? I don't see a point wiring it in if the speedometer is going off of the BMW diff speed sensor.

My e30/5.0 swap seems to run fine without the VSS wired in.

The factory pcm uses it to help maintain idle supposedly. I ripped it out with the megasquirt, but did have it all wired up previously and the car ran perfect.

Went to the dragstrip yesterday to get some tuning done. Best pass (with a very shitty 2ND gear) was 14.0@105mph. I also need to get this 3.91 out asap, shifting into 5th in the 1/4 mile sucks.

Nice run man! I hear you on the trans my T5 is junk first thing I am doing over the winter is a rebuild on the trans. How much timing are you running with the spout out? I plan on running 18 advance with spout out.

It's at 18 degrees currently, haven't even got into timing yet. Also broke my diff bolt again yesterday. That's getting old already.

i wonder if you could drill out the holes to put a larger bolt in? i kinda wish i would have keep the stock M3 6 bolt drive shaft and custimize it to work with the T5 trans.

I used a 1/2 grade 8 bolt and drilled the hole out accordingly. It worked great!

Call MaximumPSI and get one of their diff bolt reinforcement kits. simple weld on bracket that makes a world of difference. I used it without failure on my s/c'd LS1 e36 that I daily drove on drag radials.

+1. I used a reinforcement on my e36s and never had any issues running a good amount of torque through the diff. Putting it in double shear makes all of the difference.

Neat project. Looks like the OP lives right around the corner from me, who knew?

Been back to my daily driver for about a month. Started right up after sitting for another chicago winter. Have a much smaller turbo enroute. Also going through the t5 and rear end as soon as i move to into my new shop.
