No, it is. I spoke with the owner yesterday and it has a wbs vin#. I researched it on bmwvin.com and it checks out.

They didn't make the CSI in 1997. Only 1994 and 1995 production years E31 Wiki

I would suggest posting the VIN for validation before the community laughs you out of selling the car anywhere on the internets.

Fuz, you are correct they didn't in '97, but the last production, not North American, was in October of '96. This is a Euro special order shipped to MX.

This is not my vehicle, I just inquired with the owner yesterday, and did my own research. The vin he gave me is a CSi, whether it matches the vehicle listed is another question. But, I have no reason to doubt him. I have the vin# at home and will post later tonight.

Then I would recommend that the picture get updated because it is "Suspect" as it stands now. You don't want it to be questionable right out of the gate.

The engine cover is not the one that comes on an 850CSi, and the front spoiler appears to be a regular 850 spoiler. More detailed pictures and a vin# should confirm what it really is. If it is a "euro" 850CSi, expect issues obtaining a license tag for it unless it comes with papers proving it was "federalized" when imported into the USA ..... even then there likely will be an issue with the "smog test"

Regarding the engine cover...the BMW logo is facing the rear of the car. My 91 has a rear facing logo but I though later model 8's had front facing logos.

We are in the process of obtaining actual photos and a VIN # from the seller. We do not have the info yet but should by tomorrow. We agree that the photos are a little suspect (clearly fake) and can't confirm this is legit until we get more information from the seller. You should hold off on a purchase until we provide an update.

We are hoping that this is real car for sale by a reputable owner.

70k miles vs. 15k miles and which looks better? Must be the quality of photograph or the care given to the car.

So .... it is a '95 euro 850CSi. Now ..... how about a Carfax report to see when it came into the USA and where it has been ..... and how it came to have the standard 850 front spoiler and USA mirrors

Much respect to Global for doing some due diligence, a true 850csi is not something to joke around about.

Very impressive forum. A car supposably put up for sale in Texas is identified by a member from Washington.

Max Lumens knows this car very well, and some of its history. It is a euro spec car, hence the last 7 of the VIN: CC02014 (US Spec cars end with CDxxxxx for those who do not know).

As he is a Registered Importer (RI), he knows specifically what the real and proper importation and documentation process is. It may be best to head his words........

Does the CC mean Euro spec for 840's as well? My 840 is CC89820, just curious, and if so, what is the difference between Euro and US spec?

I just answered my question regarding CC vs CD via the 8 Registry, so never mind

I posted the carfax in the regular e31 board. This car has not been federalized by the looks of it, but it has had service records in TX
