    Adding M3 SMG paddles

Is it possible to add M3 SMG paddels (paddles + switches) on an e46 m
    steering wheel without paddles.
Don't need the functionality of the paddles, just the looks.

I bought already an M steering wheel to replace my original steering wheel
and I'm not realy intersted in buying yet another one...

    thanks for any help

You could... just.. glue them... onto the back of the steering wheel?

That's the silliest mod i've heard of. But yes of course it is as long as your steering wheel has the slots for them.

How can I see that it is possible?

The link to another thread is a DIY for changing your paddles, not adding
    your paddles.

So how can I see whether it has the slots?

Lol Look at the steering wheel in that link i posted. Then place your left or right hand, or both, behind your steering wheel to feel if you have the same slots for paddle shifters. I doubt you do, otherwise you would have noticed.

If you want to go through with the mod your gonna have to buy a new steering wheel. Or you can always bolt, glue, or tape them on.

Ik now that it sounds al little stupid, knowing that my car has a manual gearbox.
But I modified already my manual gearbox to a manual gearbox with SMG look.
So that's why I want to change this too.

By the way, I can't show a picture of it because I'm a new member.

You could glue them to springs and then screw the springs into part of the wheel hub. Voila!

Dewd. Are you drinkin too many delicious Belgian beers? Cuz this terrible idea.

Putting fake non functional SMG shifters and paddles on your car is like gluing a rubber vagina on your weiner and pretending you're dating a supermodel.

Are you Flemish? If you are I'll let you off the hook cuz I have a few close drinking pals who are Flem, but i may require you to buy me a few tasty Trappist ales next time I'm in Belgium . We can meet in brussels or leuven. If you're Walloon, well I'm not sure what to say. Bon journee or sunthin.

    Yep I'm flemish.

In Europe, and even more in Belgium, muscle cars are extremely expensive
to buy and even more to drive (taxes, gasoline, etc,...).
My 3 series convertible is my second car and I'm driving only 3 to 4000 miles with it PER YEAR ! So a real M3 is a too expensive car, also knowing that I'm driving an BMW F30 company car for daily use... And a factory car of course costs nothing...

So I did a full M3 body conversion of my 323ci Convertible.
The only way to see that it is a fake one is looking at the size of
    the front brake disks.

Putting in an M3 engine in it is maybe possible in the US,
but not in Europe because it's not street legal.

I've not drinking too much beer, but yes you're right, Belgian beer is delicious !

Yeah. Im still against fake posers. Nothing wrong with a 323 vert. Or even a customized modded one. Go whole hog, modmthat puppy.
But pretending its an SMG M3... Well like i said above thats like...

    But good luck to yah.

    I don't think so

I can't even go to technical inspection with the genuine M3 19 inch rims on it.

Reason : "error of the registered milages is 1% too high compared with the real driven milage of the car due to the fact of 19 inch rims in stead of 18 inch rims..."

Just a thought, you can always go with a lower tire profile so the wheels spin equally as fast and the total wheel height is the same.

Hi hi I also want to install the SMG Paddles on a non SMG steering wheel. The reason: I have a M3 with SMG, but the leather on the wheel needs refinishing. It's a lot easier and cheaper to find a recovered M// steering wheel with no paddles. I just want to transfer my paddles to the non SMG wheel.

    has anyone done this successfully?
