How long does it take to code a car? Figured the dealer is around 80/ hour..
Anyway, I'm still doing research on the matter. I'm checking the fuses under the seat tomorrow, and pulling the ecu to properly inspect for moisture damages.

Dunno Sean. I have the software but no experience in doing that. Have been told it can take 30 minutes up to 6 hours depends on a variety of factors. To my knowledge, from those in the know here, a dealer will not code a used module. Hopefully an in depth inspection will show something.
No AAA? Do you auto insurance offer you one free tow a year or something like that?
No luck up here. The public yards have most iL cars because those are the ones being driven into the ground by thugs.
I'll call some breakers I know.

I always ask this...what's your battery voltage? You're getting trans failsafe and engine failsafe. Worth a quick check.
Look in the e-box under the hood for water or something else off. There is a small tan box of fuses for the engine in there. I've read about those causing rough running to no start situations.

Will do tomorrow morning!
And the voltage was fine when the problem started. Since then, the batter ran dead which probably would explain the trans failsafe which only started later on. I'll hook up the battery to charge tomorrow as well.
I'll have to check, and thanks again

bumpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
thanks for staying with us
Haha, thanks Mad Mike!
I solved the issue! It was a blown fuse tucked away. I started at the front with checking the relays and found a row of fuses
I had to break the cover off. In English, it reads 'engine fuses'
Only one of them were blown. I replaced it and taped it up
Thanks everyone for their help! It's hard to believe such a small thing caused such a big problem. Over this past week, I must have collected a few more grey hairs... and I'm only 17

Sweet man, glad you got her sorted.
Are you driving her up this week?
Glad you found the problem! I would guess that the fuse blew because the heater in the thermostat failed - check to see if you have a temperature-mapped thermostat error now.

Oh you got me there...
Not quite sure how you can say that an E38 is not feminine?? You buy it nice things and it wants more,
You give it more and it breaks down on you saying it has a head ache. You talk nice to it stroke the battery and touch the cables together and she roars back to life like nothing ever happened.
As soon as you start working on another car the coolant system dumps fluid all over the place.
No matter how much BS they put us though we keep coming back for more.. Why? because we are E38 whipped..

Great news. Those are the 5 that protect the DME. Someone, like myself, should have mentioned them.
I was going for the tan fuses but Racer beat me to it in post #30. Wanted to see if the trans fail was happinging right away or not..
That is just Big Burtha telling all the Skinny preppy chicks to get out of her way she is coming thru!.. Two snaps up!!
About true though Lol...

Alright! Got it fixed. Now charge that battery and get your sub amp wired up right.
Also, I'd just like to say, when you were texting me, I told you how rare it is for a DME to burn out. BMW always has protection mechanisms in place for important stuff like that. Lesson for all: K.I.S.S. yeah, you all know it... Keep it simple stupid
