What wheels are you finding for newer BMW's that you can't find for older ones? BMW is one of the only car makers that uses the 5x120 bolt pattern.

As for that actual adapters, Motorsport-Tech makes/sells custom ones. They will add some serious amounts of offset (or technically subtract I guess) to the overall fitment. But then again that might not be a bad thing since most e36 and e46 wheels are running a fairly high offset anyway, compared to e30 wheels (well, e30 M3 at least).

Yep, adapters is all I've heard about.... apart from the conversion.
Just wondering, is it possible to swap e30 m3 suspension onto an e30 325i without fabrication of any kind? (yes another noob question)

    With all the parts? Yes.

Is it worth it? Considering how much you'll spend in just the parts for the swap BEFORE you get wheels/tires, probably not.

    adapters r better..

that way u have the availability of being able to run 2 types of wheels.

    a friend mine with a e28, has 5x120 to 5x114 adapters...

    best choice he ever made

Not for your iX. Even the best adapters are going to increase your offset significantly. You my be able to manage that with the regular E30 which only has a medium offset. Then you'd end up with a high offset and could run the E36 wheels which are high offset. Since the iX already has a high offset, adapters would make it "extreme" and there aren't many wheels you could run. In fact I doubt there are any OE wheels at all.

Yes. But an E30 M3 suspension is currently worth about what your car is.

Yes for the regular E30 but no for the iX. With the iX, rears will swap but the front is unique. To be honest, no one has yet come up with a 5 lug conversion for the iX that doesn't involve significant fabrication.

    For the OP:
    Really your wheel choices are-

OE iX weaves - 15x7 et41 These really are great wheels. You can't buy them new anymore. Only drawback is trying to keep them clean.

Any of the OE factory wheels for the regular E30. These sit farther outboard due to the lower offset, but they do fit. In fact, BMW lists the regular 15x7 et24 wheels as the replacement for the et41. You just have to replace them all. Even the 14" wheels fit.

There is a large selection of aftermarket wheels since the bolt pattern and offset is the same as many FWD cars. Generally they only require a hub-centric ring adapter.

Totally missed that the OP was sporting an iX. Wow, yeah, adapters will take you out too far in offset, as mentioned now. If you really need to go after different wheels, 4x100 to something that is common to FWD cars would be best. If you were trying to get it so you could swap wheels between the 740 and the iX, ain't gonna happen without some massive fender reworking on the e30.

The OP has an iX, not Anton.

But yes, adapters on an iX are not going to work that well without finding extreme offset wheels.

There is really nothing wrong with the 15x7 basket wheels that the IX has.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

He gave his iX weaves to his dad, thinking it would be easy to find another set of wheels for his car. Turns out to not be as easy as he thought.

    a few e30s
My ix came with a crappy set of 16in wheels that ive seen at big o tires. Theyre not real pretty but they get the job done, and are the right offset. Ill see if i cant get a picture tomorrow.

I have this conversion on my Cabrio... IMO the ultimate and coolest 5 lug conversion EVER

But as you have IX .. i am not sure how it will works,, maby an E36 compact bearing and hub will work,, because of the offset

But anyway.. here is some pictures of ,, oem E30 M3 5 lug

    FRONT

    REAR

ATTENTION.......... at the rear you DO NOT need to buy the complete trailing arms,, they are the same on 325 ((with ABS))

    so just buy a bearing+ hub ((5x120 for E30 M3))

the best also imo is to buy E36 steering column.. then you will get a much better steering feel .. and i would consider buying THR ,, balljoint

The ix issue with a 5 lug isn't that it is an offset problem. It is dealing with front components that need to be able to xfer power to the wheels.
