Best way to remove foam from under hood and trunk?

He foam Underhoid and under rear parcel has rotted off. Pretty much just sheets of sticky tape left. I don't see any easy way to remove it, any ideas?

I don't know if it's solid enough and a heat gun might turn it to glue. Heat gun seems like best bet though, then clean ip residue.

First attempt and all the foam came off easy, but the sticky stayed behind. Tried every thing I could think of including PB blaster which usually works good for sticky. Part of my problem is there was a power steering leak that caked onto the hood. Maybe some kind of steam gun is what I'm thinking next.

I went through this last year, spent about an hour with a jug of acetone. Melted it right off with the help of a plastic putty knife. Take proper precautions with the fumes though.

You can get the acetone at any hardware store and it works great, the clear coat can resist some pretty harsh chemicals just use it sparingly and wear some heavy duty rubber gloves.

Yeah the acetone is good as well because it just evaporates and doesn't leave any oil, so when you peel the backing off the new ones you bought it will stick right on and give a good bond.

    Thumbs up

Removal is a bitch, never thought of acetone... boy does that stuff smell awful.

Anyway, for reapply... use 3M Super Trim Adhesive. I have installed countless MB hood pads with that stuff. Maybe they have a good remover? I have never looked.

Not sure I would use a highly flammable chemical for such an application...

Do you have an air compressor? A good eraser wheel will take it right off.
