    Complete heater replacement

    1989 735i my brothers car.
A mouse got into the heater and ate some wires causing a small fire in the blower motor area that spread to the whole air box area. Melted the hell out of it. I got a replacement heater system and am changing it out but not really much experiance with the BMW. Console, heater controls and computer are out. Dash support on pass side is out. Removed the four 10mm screws from firewall side and of course the ac and water lines. Mounts at bottom are off. Am I going to have to take the whole dash top off to get the damaged heater out? I thought I could wrestle it out the pass side but it's still reall snug up there and hasn't budged.
I'm new here and have done some searching but have found nothing on this topic. Help!!!!
    Thanks,
    Guy

Thought I was going crazy. Turns out there were'nt any forgotten bolts securing the heater. It was fuzed to the firewall and carpet from the fire.
Yep. Dash board had to come out.

Pretty sure dash removal was required. I had to chisel what was left of the heater away from the carpet and firewall where it melted. Can not believe the dash didn't burn too. I hope my yard piece works now 'cause it's going back together.
