Australian E3 3.0L

Picked this up recently, didn't really need another BMW but it looked so out of place at the dealer amongst the crappy 90s econoboxes.

Don't really know what to do with it so consider it for sale if any Aus members are interested.

What do you want for it? Pitty it is an auto though. Did you know these cars raced at Bathurst? Best result a 14th from memory.

It was the Si they ran at Bathurst right?

I can't imagine a 3.0L with anything but an auto, ~170hp pushing around 1500+KGs was never going to be fast anyway, but this thing with the auto, power steer, electric windows couldn't be easier to drive.

The E3 3.0Si raced at Bathurst 4 times and then an E12 raced one year (1978).

I've seen a few E3's with 250 plus hp and dogleg box's. They go like the clappers.

I'm selling my landrover discovery in November. If your car is still around then I'd be interested. Would need something to tow my E9 racer when the discovery goes (towbar good?).

Did not realise it was the 'L'. I'm pretty sure one of the E3 'L' versions had a crank that permitted M30B34's and B35's to be stroked to 3.9 - 4 litres. Think it was the 3.3L though.

Sold for $2500 and crashed heavily/written off within about 6 months.
