Angry Door locks not responding to FOB/dash switch

I have had our 2007 328xi for less than2 weeks and I have lost control of the door locks. Neither the dash button or the key FOB will unlock the doors, the FOB will lock the doors but won't open them. Currently, the three passenger doors are locked (and can't be unlocked) and in order to get in I have to use the key and to unlock the driver's door after a drive I have to roll down the window and manipulate the key to unlock the driver's door. Any one have anything happen like this before?

Have you gone through the settings to see if one for the fob is set to lock only?

Start by checking the fuses. If that is not the problem, it is probably the lock actuators.

    Unhappy Central locking lockout

My 08 335xi wil only allow me to open the drivers door with the mechanical key. I can drive it but can't open any other door or the gas lid. The central lock button on the dash does nothing but relock the drivers door. Any ideas out there?

I had the same thing happen to my X5. The General Module #3 that controls the door lock relays went bad. Parts and labor came to $828. Good luck.

    Central locking lockout unlocked

The lockout problem with my 335xi was solved today by replacing a fuse in the GLOVE BOX???. BMW never thought this one through. If you can't open the passenger door, which we could not, you must lay accross the center tunnel and peer into the glove box and use one hand to pull and replace the burnt fuse. Cramps anyone?

The night before the locks failed, we had an awlfull thunder storm and a very close lightning strike. Could be the culprit.

The same happened to my 06 325i around 70k miles. Luckily, the car was still under free maintenance program, and the dealer took care of it relatively quickly. They were not specific, and this was 3 yrs ago at least, but it was a problem somewhere in the security system apparently. That's all I can remember. Take it to the dealer, this seems to be a common issue on E90's a

    Ditto, Baytopper

I was in the exact same predicament as Baytopper had described, layed accross the console to access the fuse box, deep behind the glove box. Fuse #57 was blown, replaced, problem solved! What a pain!!! My only worry with the 2007 328xi (40,000 miles) is that something usually causes a fuse to blow - like a bad door lock accuator that is beginning to go bad. Only time will tell.

Ok I am having a similar problem. I want to check fuse 57 so I took a look in the glove box. The fuse box doesn't seem to have any numbers. How can I find fuse 57?
    Thanks

If the fuse is indeed blown, be sure to replace it with a 20amp fuse and not the 15amp that comes out of that slot. That's the repair that BMW tells us at the dealers to do. If the fuse still blows after installing a 20amp, then you have to replace actuators.

I just checked, I wondered how I could have missed it. But, there is no diagram there! I even just checked the manual and it says it should be on the back of the fuse cover but I do not have a diagram there. Would one of you kind members please find a minute to perhaps scan yours and post or email it to me? Thanks so much in advance!

You could also look for a fuse that is blown via elimination. Time consuming maybe, but less elapsed time than waiting for a diagram to be posted. I forget if I or someone else posted one before or not, so also try to search.

Ok guys. There is a BMW service bulletin out on this (I forget the SB #) and it is an issue on some of the later model bimmers. It usually requires replacement of both front door actuators and changing the 15 amp fuse to a 20 amp. BMW dealers should be aware of this and usually carry the parts on hand for when we come in with this problem. This actually happened to me about 2 weeks ago and I had just gotten my car back from BMW maybe 3 hours prior. I took it in, they knew exactly what I was talking about, and had it back the same day. I don't know if it was because of warranty or because of the service bulletin but it was no charge to me.

I have the smae probelm with a 2008 335Xi (Sedan, Auto transmission) - one of the previous post indicates fuse 57 for the door lock, but the diagram which was posted seems to indicate different fuses. I don't have the fuse layout paper either, nor does my layout match the one that was posted.

    Please help!

Jeez, this is an old thread resurrected. If you have the door lock problem, replace both 15 amp fuses with 20 amp fuses in the glove box fuse panel. I think it's the bottom left corner (fuse 57 maybe), and I usually replace the other fuse too. Then replace the front door lock actuators to keep the problem from coming back.

I usually have to clear the fault codes in the JBE before the locks start working, even after replacing the fuse.
