I bought a uncut blank master type key from ebay . I also have a working
GT1 setup. Any one can tell me how to program the key?
From everything I have ever heard or read, you can't. Not even the dealer can. The keys have to be ordered from BMW and shipped from Germany. I would love to hear that I am wrong though.
You don't. The RFID chip isn't programmable by the dealer or end users. It has to be ordered from BMW and it'd be programmed with the data for your car before being sent to the dealer.
Programming new key, need hardware & software:
- BMW key programmer.
- EWS editor.
- Blank chip transponder/blank key.
Lock your car.
Get into the car. Close driver's door.
Connect and disconnect the ignition.
Remove the ignition key.
Press unlockbutton and hold.
Within 10 seconds press and release three times short of the lock button, while unlockbutton is pressed.
Release unlockbutton.
Some models, LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds.
Some models, central locking system locks and unlocks in rapid sequence to indicate correct programming.
Some models: Repeat the above if the central locking does not work and the LED does not blink or keeps flashing.
NOTE: A maximum of 4 programmable keys. Perform programming of each key within 30 seconds.
Type 2
System function
With the press of unlock button activates the alarm, central locking and double locking system.
By keeping the key lock button does is shut off windows and sunroof.
If you have accidentally slipped the key lock button proceed as follows (if the alarm system is installed):
Briefly press unlockbutton and release.
Press the lock button and hold it.
You can disable the alarm system, tilt sensor and motion sensor in the cabin as follows (if fitted):
Briefly press the key lock button after activating the alarm, central locking and double locking system.
Alarm system inclination sensor and motion sensor in the cabin is suspended until the alarm, central locking and double locking system is deactivated.
Programming
When
Key added or replaced.
How
Lock your car.
Get into the car. Close driver's door.
Connect and disconnect the ignition.
Remove the ignition key.
Press unlockbutton and hold.
Within 10 seconds press and release three times short of the lock button, while unlockbutton is pressed.
Release unlockbutton.
Central locking system locks and unlocks in rapid sequence to indicate correct programming.
Repeat the above if the central locking does not work.
^ If I understand the workings correctly. All that procedure would do is allow the OP to enter the car NOT start it. As the programming required to satisfy the immobilizer is separate to the central Locking functionality.
Thanks guys, so many responses.
kreller's methord is to program remote, i am looking for how to program the transponder,
thank you kreller anyway.
Simple procedure to program blank chip transponder :
- Remove EWS module from cars.
- Remove microcontroller (MCU) EWS (0D46J, 1D477, 2D47J.
- Put this MCU to programmer and read.
- Load this data with EWS Editor software.
- Choose key number.
- Write to blank chip transponder.
Equipment list:
- EPROM Programmer (Xprog-m, ETL programmer).
- Software EWS Editor.
- Transponder programmer (EWS Lite, Zed-Bull, Tango, TmPRO, Carprog)
- Blank chip transponder (PCF7935, PCF7936, PCF7930, ELMOS 10030A).

Offtopic: sorry about this question, but i think it's the right thread to post it. Is it possible to fake the odometer on the key? I heard both stories that it is ant that it's not possible to fake that.

It seems it would be possible, because if you had the wrong miles in your key then wouldn't your odometer jump up?
But still you would need a bmw key programer, right?
This works with my BMW e36 1996 328i coupe. I know that the chip on the key is the PCF7930XP?
