Questions regarding parts for the console (did search)

Hi there. Friend of mine bought the wood console thar koenigd pointed out and he wants to buy some plastic parts next to where the OBC is supposed to go. I went to real oem and cannt find anything about it. the only answer I get is:
No parts found matching your car.

Items pictured but not listed are not installed on your vehicle.
Items pictured without a number are listed on another diagram

That's where the handsfree microphone sits. Your options are:
    • 51 16 8 124 692 (LHD) or 51 16 8 128 599 (RHD) - small and cheap plastic insert. It may not work on center consoles with wood trim (it's not listed for these), but since the Alpina center console is clearly based on the plastic console it will probably work.
    • 65 61 2 255 695 (LHD only) - dummy microphone enclosure (same enclosure but without the actual microphone).
    • 65 61 8 354 304 (ECE LHD), 65 61 8 354 421 (US LHD) or 65 61 8 354 622 (RHD) - handsfree microphone
Here's what the microphone and dummy enclosure look like:

In just over an hour Revtor comes up with that response. That's why this website is the best source of information for the 8 series! Although at the moment this information is of no use to me, thanks for making this community what it is (same goes to all the others who always jump in with helpful info).

Does anyone know if you can successfully integrate that into an aftermarket bluetooth system?

It's convenient that the car already has the microphone, of course it may be antiquated, has anyone found a way to actually use theirs with today's modern technology mixed in?

I don't know whether or not the original microphone can be used with modern equipment, but you could put a modern microphone in the dummy enclosure. I did so for the bluetooth functionality of the Becker Indianapolis Pro head unit. That worked fairly well, but the microphone is in a less than optimal location in the center console. Ideally it should be located much closer to the head. The early E31 with handsfree telephone had the microphone (obviously a different one) mounted onto the A pillar which is perhaps a better location but looks somewhat like an afterthought.

Becker Indianapolis Pro microphone in the 65 61 2 255 695 dummy enclosure. Impossible to tell apart from the original BMW microphone when installed:

I used the stock enclosure with the mic element that came with my alpine BT kit. I ended up putting the mic in between my sunroof switch and Homelink in the cover-IIRC the 7 series cars had he mic there anyway and it works pretty well up there.

    Cool Great Success!

Thanks for the great information, guys (Revtor).

Today I painted my new center console. I ordered the dummy microphone enclosure and modified my Kenwood KDC-X997 head unit's included hands-free microphone and fit it inside the dummy enclosure.
It fit in there with some modification and looks great!

I used some filter pad that I had lying around to help muffle any internal resonance inside the dummy enclosure cavity and to keep any excess noise from entering the enclosure from anywhere but the front.
