You can't go wrong with H&R!

The most popular spring in H&R's line-up, Sport Springs will lower your vehicle an average of 1.2-1.5 inches for a lower center of gravity, improved handling, and a more aggressive appearance.

All of us around here are a big fan of H&R's springs. For the money they are one of the best available!

As far as shock wear, because you are going lower they will wear more then they would at stock height. However with that said they will still work. You will just need to replace them eventually. But only slightly sooner then if you weren't lower.

    Cheers,

    joe,
i also have an'01 740iL without self leveling suspension and am thinking about changing the suspension. i really don't want to change the shocks/struts. I basically want a very slight drop - maybe 1" to 1.5" max rear & 1.5 to 2" max in front.

from what i read, seems H&R the way to go (H&R sport II? or model number 29991-1?). what about Eibachs or Vogtlands though? or
any suggestions on springs that could get me there without being too stiff? i actually like the feel of my (stock) suspension, just want a lower stance.

    thanks.

Thanks for your reply Mark! I prefer something with different height adjustments on front versus rear because I need them to lower different amounts. ( 1.5 to 2" on front; <1 to <1.4" on rear)

Do you carry H&R springs? I understand they have sets with different heights.

What do you know about Vogtland springs?

the eibach drops a standard suspension 1.3 inchs (33mm). The H&Rs 1.9 front 1.3 rear.
I bought eibach but didnt realize that a "sport" is already 20mm lower than standard. I needed the H&Rs, so now I have a set of Eibachs I dont need.

007008, did you consider any other springs besides H&R when you replaced your eibachs?

The lowest spring we carry currently for the 01 740i is the H&R Sport Springs with an average lowering of 1.9"F 1.3"R, the drop is compared to a non sport car.

Now if you want to get seriously low you could always make the step to coilovers, we carry system by KW and FK for the E38.

They are currently $239.40 + shipping. Click HERE for more info and to order.

Also note that the drop listed for them is relative to a non sport package car, typically BMW sport packages are between a quarter inch and inch lower than the non sport counter parts.
