I bought my first care about 12 years ago. It was between a 4runner and a BMW. I went with the 4runner due to the practical side in me. I have now sold my 4runner and bought my first BMW, a 2011 Blue Water Metallic 335i with xdrive. It's only been a few days, but I love driving it! Here's a question, what is the break in period? Someone told me 1200 miles, someone told me nothing. Half of me wants to open it up a little more, but then the little angel on my shoulder is telling me to chill a little bit longer. I plan to keep this one awhile, so the last thing i want to do is damage it long term.
Hello,
I just got my first BMW (2008 335i) and have much to learn!
Thanks

Hello all,
I currently own 98 M3 and was thinking about getting a used 335i. It is a 07 with 59k. I have heard that 335i's are not as reliable car as older 3 series. Is it a good idea to get this old car without CPO warranty? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
I posted this in the Florida section, but I see I should have put it here!
I picked up a 07 TSM 335i coupe manual 6-speed with a whole laundry list of factory options (pretty sure it was the M-sport package) plus some aftermarket stuff. It was sitting on the local Honda dealer's lot. They gave me a killer trade value on my 06 Honda S2000. I've had a few quick cars in the past, but this one will probably be the quickest so far. I used to have a mild turbo SC300, a 300zxTT, Talon TSi AWD, and a RX-7 T2. Our other car is a 2010 370Z.
Looking forward to enjoying this car I had a list of aftermarket stuff I wanted to put onto a 335i, but this car already has them all and then some and it is VERY VERY clean. I'm a big BMW newb but not a newb to cars, used to be a big hobby of mine; everything from aftermarket turbo kits to tearing down/rebuilding engines. Evidently the Autowerkes AP2 that this car comes with is running the stock program, so I'm going to slowly bump up the maps to get used to the car. Even stock this car is faster than my S2000 by a good bit and would give our 370Z a run for its money.
Any pointers to a newb?
Longer version:
I had originally been looking for a 06-07 Cadillac CTS-V and had driven from Melbourne down to Miami to check out two of them at a dealership. To make a long story short, the dealer lied over the phone (or was really really dumb) and so I got there and those cars had been sold for a long time. Looked around at some 335i sedans and coupes; theirs weren't in very good shape.
Came back home and the next morning was about to head out to Daytona Beach to check out a mint condition, low-mileage jet-black auto coupe. Stopped by the local Honda dealership after seeing a no-info listing of a silver coupe with 45k miles. The car had full carbon fiber everything plus the manual tranny, I'm pretty certain it was the M-sport option? The front-end looked a bit different than a normal coupe. Or perhaps the previous owner was very dedicated. It had real full carbon fiber trim on the interior, carbon fiber badges, carbon fiber mirrors, carbon fiber accents around the kidney-bean grills, carbon fiber eyelids, and a carbon fiber shift knob. Shifter felt like a short shifter of some sort, definitely a shorter throw than the 6-speed I got to test drive.
The car has some kind of BMW-branded 19" black wheels with a deep polished lip, looks lowered, running 275 rubber in the rear. It has a Magnaflow exhaust, a catless downpipe (not sure of the brand yet), an Autowerkes AP2, some kind of intake, an Autowekes BOV, and probably some more mods I don't know about yet. I go to pick up the car tomorrow evening. Does anyone know of this car? I've never seen another 3-series running wheels like this; hell the car might even have coil-overs.
I felt like a thief, but the CARFAX looked great and the previous owner was a well-known gear-head to the owner of the dealership.
Hi my name is Ty. I just bought my first Bmw. 2008 alpine white 335i. I want to get this car around 400 whp and I love skidding this thing stock. Any good coilovers out there?

Hey guys,
I just bought my first BMW. It's a 2007 335i Metallic Gray with Black Leather interior. I'm so stoked because it's been a long difficult road to get to owning it; lots of life hoops to jump through. I hope it'll be as fun as my other cars have been (or more so).
Hello All! First time Beemer owner here. Bought an '08 335i Sedan about two weeks ago. I have to say that I've had a LOT of cars over the last 20 years - 13 if I remember correctly... This is a really fun car. Solid, fast, comfortable...
I have a lot of questions and hope you all can help out.
Chuck
I Have a new 2011 328xi Black Sapphire Metallic Premium Pkg. Heated Steering Wheel and Seats with Navigaation. Love the car and look forward to all the great information a BimmerForums.
I bought my 2008 328xi in april this year. I bought it after finding out I had orders to italy. I am now in italy with my car. I really enjoy driving it. I am in the process of researching tires and possibly new rims. I figure that I have about another year or so before I have to replace the stock tires on my car.
I also frequent a truck forum where I am an admin there. I just like reading and learning about my vehicles.
Hello everyone,
My car was recently totaled and now I am looking out to get my first BMW. I'm looking at some used 335i coupes and once I get one, I'll definitely be a frequent contributed on this forum!!
Hi everyone,
I bought a 2012 Space Gray 335i coupe four days ago. It's super fun to drive and much more spacious inside than I imagined. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the rear seat will actually accommodate adult humans. I was also able to fit a road bike in it with the rear seats folded down.
I am new to Bimmerforums, and I have recently made my first BMW purchase. I have been a proud owner of a 2011 BMW 335i (sports package) since mid-July.

I bought a 2008 328Ci yesterday. This is my 2nd BMW. I drove and loved a 1989 525iA from 1998 to 2011. I wanted the coupe and I went out and got the car I wanted!
Canadian 525iA - 1989 to 2011. R.I.P.
Made a whimsical purchase of an '07 335i sedan yesterday
Previously have had a '00 540i sport, and a '97 M3 sedan, so I'm very happy to be back in a BMW!
Purchased a 2008 33i Sedan, Sport Package and Luxury Package. Had it since friday and I'm here to get more power >:] I want around 400whp. JB4 is incoming, and I want downpipes/exhaust down the line.

I have been a BMW enthusiast for many years now. The first BMW I owned was a 1988 crimson red 325i. I really missed it when I thought I should upgrade and traded it in on a white 535 in 1993. Well, what with one thing and another I had to change businesses and in 1996 went to the first of a few non-BMW cards as an economy measure. Well, let me tell you, there is nothing to make you love BMWs more than not having one. So anyway in 2007 I got my first certified pre-owned BMW, a silver 325i. I loved the car but never really liked the color. It was all they had at the time, that or black. So, I saw the Mission to Drive event and started shopping for a new bimmer. (Another note in the shopping thread details my horror at how one has to buy cars via bickering with dealers as opposed to how you buy everything else.)
Wound up with a new 2011 328i x-drive. And, best of all, it is Vermillion Red Metallic. As my younger (31 yrs) daughter exclaimed when i showed it to her, "Dad, you've gone back to your red roots!!!"
Not only do I love how it drives and runs but as a certified computer freak I have been zoning out on all of the many Connected Drive features and the BMW Apps and iPhone integration. Wow. For someone who grew up in the 50's this car is like science fiction!
Anyway, I am very happy to have found these Forums. For about 25 years I ran all of the Apple Computer-related and Macintosh Forums on the CompuServe Network (before the AOL buyout) and also ran various Forums on MSN and in a few start-ups. So, to find such an active community of knowledgeable enthusiasts devoted to BMW is a real kick and I hope to be here often.
Happy New Year's everyone! -- Neil
I have owned my 335i xdrive since new in March 2010. I love it! Sapphire black with beige dakota, burl walnut, comfort access, convenience package etc. I just discovered this forum and did the "Golf Tee Mod" about 30 mins ago .
Hello all. This is my 1st "import" car. Always bought Dodge/Chrylser previously but got tired of the unreliability. Hopefully my '08 328i will make a lasting impression. Love the way it drives! And it's a real looker(B. Red Metallic). I love the post so far on this site, very informative. Just learned I have an e90!
Hi All,
I just bought my first BMW 3 days ago. It is a 2008 Silver BMW 328i Sedan with 12K miles.
Hey guys and gals, first time Bimmer owner here and loving it! Now I finally know what the big deal is when people spoke about Bimmers.
My ride is a 2007 BMW 335i Coupe with 67K miles. It's got the 6-speed automatic transmission, sports package, navigation, leather and all sorts of bells and whistles. I think the only addon it doesn't have is the Dynamic Cruise Control.
I bought this car the last day of 2011 by trading in my 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan (77K miles) and even though the Honda was awesome, it pales in comparison to the 335i. Day and night difference.
I have attached some pics and hope you guys like it. Looking forward to my time around these forums.

Hey Everyone,
I just got my first BMW about a week ago and already it is in the shop after some moron backed into it and totally smashed in the driver side door. It is a black on black 2011 BMW 328 xi Sedan with navigation and only 250 miles on it. I traded in my 2001 Mercedes SLK 320 and do not regret it at all. I look forward to conversing with everyone on the message boards. I have always been a Mercedes guy, but it looks like that has changed for the better
I brought a 2011 BMW 328i. 6mt, Black on black premium package. I am new to BMW, I have always had nissans. My g35 was stolen last Xmas and I just replaced it with this BMW. First impression was I have been robbed of power. After about week of driving I noticed that it is a smoother ride, and suspension is second to none. I am trying to hold back on modding the car because I don't want to mess up the look, engineering and warranty. Any way I like the forum so far.
