Are there any other racks available at a decent price for the coupe other than the Thule 753? I'm not sure I like the look of it but maybe I just need to see some more pics. I've read that it needs to be drilled to retro-fit. Would I have to mutilate it or is it an easy fit? I'll pretty much be leaving it on the coupe because it will be used quite often, so the appearance is somewhat important, though I don't mind painting it (or maybe covering it with decals )
Thanks!
Scott

I have the Thule 753 and like a lot. The holes on the rack need to be drilled just a bit to fit properly - certainly not considered mutilation. I only have a few pics:
I have the BMW rack with two bike attachments...I actually have an extra bike attachment if that's what you're looking for. I'll post pics tomorrow when there's light out.

Gotta love it when putting a bike on top of a car doubles the height of it and it's still not that high.
You just have to cut the channel on the bottom of the rear crossbar a little bit (maybe 3 inches a side, hardly mutilation).
If you have a small angle grinder or know someone who has one it's literally a 2 minute job cutting out the channels.
The following pics are a few years old, I still have the Thule 753.
Thinking about selling it.
Thule 753........its a 5 minute mod.

I think I had the Thule and BMW one mixed up...The Thule looks nice! Thanks for the pics. Will PM you regarding whether you want to sell yours or not Wheelieh
I love seeing the puzzled look on people's faces when you're carrying two MTB's and going down the highway.

Thule 753 is the only way to go. Get the Rocky Mount Pitchfork trays. They are the bomb and way beefier than the Thule trays. There's a noticeable reduction in bike wabble while cornering.
We just did a set on my friend's new M Coupe that is identical to mine! It literally took 5 minutes to grind out the rear crossbar channel.

Here's a picture of mine. None with the bike on it because I wasn't thinking that far ahead.
Now what i need is a rack that will hold a trike recombant cycle for the coupe. probably a hopeless cause. ;-(
Contact these guys.

I bet they can either make one or they might actually have one.
is anybody looking to unload their modified Thule 753's for the M-Coupe? Looking to buy a set. Thanks.
My OEM bars with some modified attachments...
i am not sure if you ever answered the question and i remember you posting a thread about them but what kind of fogs are you running?

No pics of mine, but I have the Thule, and along with modifying the channel in the rear bar, I also narrowed the bar to look better, and not hang over the sides of the roof. I think I took about 2-3" total from it's width.
I also went with Yakima trays- they seemed sturdier, and were available. The only thing I don't like about my setup is all the freakin' logos! I need to get busy and remove 'em.
Sorry for the hijack... but... How easy on/ easy off are the bike racks? I was thinking about getting one but only really need to use it once or twice a year. The rest of the time I'd prefer to just have it off the car, it is simple to take it off for the other 50 weekends of the year that I won't be using it?
What shape are the 'BMW' crossbars, and will a Rocky Mounts Pitchfork fit? They appear fairly, but not completely, round, which work for the Pitchfork. Just looking for confirmation.
