I'm going to be repainting my car (well, not me personally... but you get the drift) and am debating whether to stay close to Alpine White (as in, repaint it Alpine white) or go black (oh, so sweet), gunmetal gray (oh, sooo sweet) or Avus blue (oooh, so sweet).
Whatchu think. I also was thinking, like some sort of pearlescent white... Just so it has a little kick. Or orange. I like orange.
And here's a pic:

gunmetal gray! easy question.
i'd get pearl white, like the lexus color, if you're gonna get close to white. if not that i'd get the blue color of kosta's car.
have you ever seen Alpine White with blue pearl?
dont do the blue pearl... its cheasy!
if you repaint it do it alpine white or just aspen white(subaru)... its much whiter than alpine white.
I suggest staying with white. Its not good to paint a car different colors, cuz unless your gonna rip it down to the frame, there will always be parts left white.
I kind of agree. However, black is very, very sexy. :Originally posted by RenegadeBMW

why the repaint?

I dunno... I figure, if I want to paint it, I might as well repaint. I like the Alpine white, so I might just stick with that...
The problem is, there are a bunch of spots on the car where there are big scratches, sloppy touch up jobs and the sort...
Know any detailing places (LA) that can get this all done?
If I could get around a repaint, I'd do that... It kills me to see the paint drip on the right rear... the big scratches on the trunk... and the poor touch up job on the front a-pillar... and those poor touchups all around.
I think it has too many miles on it to justify a full-out repaint though.

Esoteril Blue!
Can you even get a car painted in that?
I got my '97 M3/4 Alpine white repainted a couple of months ago.
It is supposed to be the same color, but it is a brighter white than Alpine white.
I like it though.
Here is a pic.
Actually, I am considering selling it.
Look at sig. Keep the white
I think silver grey would look nice on the e36

Stick with white. If you get it painted something different its going to look weird when you pop your hood or open your trunk and doors unless you pay the extra money to get that stuff painted too.

Almost any other white is whiter than Alpine White, or at least brighter or cleaner looking.Originally posted by playboy

I'm contepmplating on doing the same thing. My paint looks pretty dingy compared to other white cars.
If you consider a different color, maybe you won't have much trouble with a light color, as in Silver or so.

i like black personally, but it has the same problem white does.. flaws show easy.. i dunno bout the other colors, cause i've never owned a car otherwise.. but the car in my sig looks damn near black in the shadow.. and barely blue in the sun.. i guess midnight blue? dunno the name of it specifically.. but i like it.. almost chameleonesque paint..
avus blue
It's tempting to think about Avus blue, but I think I'm going to do an Alpine white repaint...
And wait until I can get a M3 coupe in Avus blue... or black.
It'll irratate me to hell to crawl under the car and see white... if the car isn't white...

stick with alpine white
Changing colors can be a major PITA.
I have a Miata which was originally white and was repainted black by a previous owner. The repaint was a quality job, but all you have to do is open the hood or truck to see that black is not the original color.
Also, when body shops repaint cars, they usually do not sand the body down to the metal - costs way too much. As the paint get older and you get the normal chips and dings, the original color shows through the chips. Pretty obvious when it is white on black.

keep it alpine white cuz then you dont have to paint all the things under the hood and the inside of the doors etc. plus alpine white is awesome:
Stick with the Alpine White!
Nice pic dizzy, car looks great.
