    Price of ticket for speeding?

Ticket was written down for 85. in a 65 zone. I'm a minor and it's my first ticket. anyone know how much it'll be? and will going to traffic school make my ticket cost less?

1 million dollars, 60 year license ban, now give me everything in your wallet.

No seriously, nobody knows. Go to court and you'll find out.

The whole rack and pinion thing is stupid, they feel the same.

I don't beleive there is a "Formula" in Cal, I think it depends on the jurisdiction where it happened.

    I got a 73 in a 65 once, it was $140 I think.

In Massachusetts it was something like $100 for the first five, then 10 for every additional MPH. I might be wrong on the exact numbers.

Honestly I think they just randomly make it up out here.

I got a 20 over 4-6 months ago and actually got 15 hours of community service instead of a fine. Think it was near $300 though if I wanted to pay. Might be different for you since I was only 16...

Yup, at least $300...I would even say $350.

    Plus traffic school fee.

That's pretty early but at least you didn't have to drive 3 and a half hours to get to it. Never speeding that far away from home again

    every county has it's own charges.....I say $300, no traffic-school since it's over 80.

Good luck, let us know who's the closest.

its not gonna be that much if you say your guilty and its your first time. around 150 with 10 hours of community service plus for court fees and the traffic school. that was what i had to pay for 80 in 65

I had an 83 in a 65 earlier this year. $384 plus $35 traffic school fee. You shouldn't need to go to court. You'll get a letter in the mail with the fine amount and your options.

And yes, you want to go to traffic school if given the option. Otherwise you won't be able to afford your insurance.

curious, say that u already have a point on ur license. how long does the point stay on ur license before its erased? I heard its takes around 3 years, but during that 3 years, can u have another ticket and not affect the 3 year time frame? or does it start over?

It varies by city district as well, depending on what kind of road you were ticketed on.

3 years for a point to be forgotten/erased/forgiven. If you get another point tacked on, it is a separate 3 year period before it goes away.

Now if you get a ticket and go to traffic school to avoid the point, you have an 18 month period were you have to avoid getting a ticket or both will be added on anyway.

Ultimately, yes, because by going to and completing traffic school the ticket won't show up on your record and thus your insurance company won't see it and raise your rates.

Oh boohoo, I've had commutes to work longer than that.

Seriously, you don't *have* to go to court. Although it has been my experience that the fine is less if you do show up to court (even to just plead "guilty" or "no contest"), it shouldn't be required. But the requirements, fine info, eligibility for traffic school, etc will all be spelled out in the Courtesy Notice the court should send you in a few weeks.

(The above is from recent experience; it's been so long since I got my first, as-a-minor traffic ticket that even if I could remember those details, I doubt that ancient info would be relevant today )

I got a 62 in a 45 last year going down hawthron from PV. The ticket was 395.00 ohh yea and since your under 18 you might be screwed! GL

Ohh yea bump for Torrance local ..

Ohh yea traffic school dosnt lower the price. It only takes the point off or points. Really you'll end up paying more! I just paid off 680 bux worth of 2 tickets last month at torrance court. Sucks... speeding ticket and Stop sign . funnn

I got an 85 in a 65, and it was like 350+, but it was my second ticket in that month(shitty luck i guess).

Go to court and see if they can lower the fine, and go to school so you won't get any points on your record.
