    06 330i brake fluid

    Does anyone know:

    A) The type of brake fluid that should be used on an 06 330i?
    B) How to add brake fluid...where is it located?

The manual says nothing about it. Thanks!

Are you just trying to add fluid or do a flush?

Have you done brake fluid flush before? If not, you have to be careful follow proper bleeding procedure so it is not as straight forward as an engine oil change since if you leave any air in the system, it will compromise your braking and safety. This is probably why the manual doesn't mention anything about it, since BMW would not want the average owner to attempt it for liability reasons. My advice is, leave it to a qualified tech if you have not done it before.
That being said, you have to remove the plastic cover above the firewall on the driver side to access the brake fluid container.
Check out the pic in this post if that helps:

P.S. Be careful not to get brake fluid on your paint, it will eat right through it. Also don't let it drip on anything hot, the gases can be extremely toxic.

My advice would be to have the dealer take care of this for you. The first question I would have is why is the fluid low? It could be a little low due to pad wear but generally that is not significant. If you have a leak then that is a safety issue. If the car is a 2006 you are coming up on needing a fluid change so you may want to kill two birds with one stone. I agree with the guy above that this is something to be careful with. I have done all of my own brake work since I was 16 (43) and would not mess with the fluid portion of the system on this car. I will bring it to the dealer for fluid change and do the pads myself
