    E36 318i Drift Project

    Found a perfect donor car:

Found the car at a dealer in Pa. It's a 93 318, one owner (74 yr old woman no less) with a bad headgasket.

Should have the car within a week give or take a few days, then the tear down/rebuild begins!

Intentions for this car are 70% drift/hpde car. 30% Summer daily fun car.

Pulling the OBD1 S52 out of my wrecked 95 m3 along with both subframes and associated running gear, getting a nice set of coilovers and solid/spherical bushings everywhere.

Then drive the pants off of it

This has seriously been the most pleasurable used car buying experience from a dealer I have ever had. I asked for a few more detailed pics of the frame rails/under the car...and he send me this:

Behind the headlights??? Totally wouldn't have thought to look there.

I CAN NOT WAIT TO DIG IN!!!

Yup, swapping complete subframes with my m3 basically.

Refreshing EVERYTHING before it goes in as well.

How'd you wreck your M3? Drifting?

Although you are transfering everything from the M3 over to the 318 do you think you'll need any reinforcements on the subframes or anything.

This looks like it will be pretty sweet once its all said and done..Have fun.

Yeah, ran out of skill/luck on the way home from an event actually. Stupid.

Rear sub swaybar tabs are reinforced, gonna reinforce the rtab pockets and subframe mounts as well as the front subframe itself.

    Precisely.

All the cool kids are doing it.

Talked with ienjoydrifting about BC Racing BR-Type coilovers today.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger.

    Yes sir.

    Well not really.

    But sort of.

I received the car, proceeded to drift it out of the parking lot it was dropped off in without a belt on the accessories.

It died as I was pulling in my driveway.

    Trial by fire.

hour and a half, and you complain, seriously?????

if you're really into drifting, then you'll have to get used to traveling fairly far.

I consider a "close" track to be up to 4-5hrs. away.

Pitt guys are forever coming to NJ, WV, Va, etc.
