BMW`s "best effort" then is going to be there F1 engines.. that or there E46 m3 GTR engine (S62)...


my personal favorite though.... is going to be between the S54, or the S62.... for some reason, both the m3, and the M5 are a complete blast to just rev the balls out of them.


S50B32 and S54 are nearly identical. not too many differences between them design wise.

If we're talking street engines then it's undeniably the s38. If you need proof just look at any european racing video. They put the thing volvo's since it'll produce so much power reliably. For a track build a boosted s38 is as good as it gets. Easily get 4-500 to the wheels reliably.

2nd is the s50 pretty decent power and super reliable outside of a few shitty accessories.

Hands down it has to be the S65 and S85. They are purely amazing in every aspect. Yes, the S54 is a very good engine but it seems to run out of steam after 7000 rpm according to some dynos on here. The S65 and S85 seem to absolutely thrive in the high revs. To get that V8 and V10 to perform throughout the rev range and only get stronger to redline, the pure sound of symphony, and the complex engine management system make these unlike any BMW engine.

While the S54 is the better engine over a Euro S50, it is derived from the Euro S50B30 and S50B32. To think that engine was out in the very early 90's made it ahead of pretty much anything on the road at the time. Yes, the S54 is better but it is a refined improved version of the Euro S50 which is why I give more credit to that engine.

Hey everyone. New to the forum. I have live in the Balto. Maryland area and was looking for a good repair shop that can do a 4-wheel alignment on my 2002 530i with staggered 19" wheels. Running 245/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 in the rear. I've been reading some of the entries and one guy said something about have the gas tank full before having th alignment done? Does this sound legit?

there is no vanos or double vanos to f up, no oil canister leaks, no valve adjustments, rev limit is way lower than the double valvespring head is capable of, forged rods, COP ignition.

basically a change the oil every 6k, change the plugs every 30k, change the valvecover gaskets every 150k and drive it till the car rusts around you. then stick it in something else and drive it some more.

No. Just no. Ain't got jack on the S38, S14, S70 and M60.

Also, M60 has hydraulic lifters (so no need to adjust valves), forged rods, COP ignition, etcetc. Although, it doesn't have as good of a power/displacement ratio (M50 is like .75, M60 is like .70).
