Nice thread. Have the stock bmw drive-train parts been beefed up to handle the increased torque from the diesels?

Gawd, i've always had dreams of building a diesel for the track. Nothing like 500ftlbs to pull you out of turns! Plus, with 300+HP, that'll be no slouch! Like running an old school 502ci in your ride!!!
I'm amazed that no one mentioned the obvious, too. Nothing better than having 300+hp and 500ftlbs on tap and still get 36mpg!!!
1997 ///M3- AA C-30 Supercharger, M50, FK Coilovers, Turner sways
Check this AUDI A3 TDI
750hp with 627 lb/ft of torque on the engine dyno
that 2nd pic is definitely a gas engine. look at the injectors and custom fuel rail. diesels have rail pressures upwards of 50,000psi nowaways, and AN fittings are a little underrated for that pressure! sweet ride, though.

Didn't read far enough to find if someone said it, but they do sell the diesals here now, just check bmwusa.com
VP Anyone have a Girlfax?
wow thatīs impressive
I have a E90 320D with a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, straight exhaust and remap and itīs making 267hp! and 583NM... i think thatīs the torque number... donīt remember
itīs a really nice ride and I love the 6speed manual!
Diesel is made from...you guessed it...oil. The crude oil arrives at the refiner in the exact same condition and only then becomes either gasoline or diesel. The lack of diesels here in the US has nothing to do with our government being under some super secret decoder ring control by the evil oil companies.
It's actually environmentalists who have kept diesels away. Diesels, while getting better gas mileage, have always been dirtier. Newer technologies are changing that problem. Honda only recently produced a diesel after it was able to come up with a design that met their own green standards.
It was a BIG DEAL recently when California approved the VW TDI and the Mercedes Bluetec for sale in their state. The 2009 TDI was the first diesel car available for sale in all 50 states in quite a few years. You couldn't buy any diesel cars in California...only a diesel pickup truck because trucks are subject to less stringent emissions laws.
Probably better to know who to call an AZZHAT before you go around calling people AZZHATs. It's the environmentalists who have kept diesels out of the US, not the oil companies.
That is sweet! Here is more my style.
12 valve 5.9L cummins, first stage turbo = 102mm, secound stage turbo = 76mm, maximum boost = 150psi, 14mm head and main studs, dry block, 1500+ hp on diesel @ 5000 rpms
12 valve 5.9L cummins, compound turbo's, 6900 lbs, 1000 rwhp diesel only, 1450rwhp with methanol and nitrous, 10.43@131 mph (no nitrous)
Super Stock pulling tractor, these are production based tractor engines and some of these beasts have well over $100,000 in the engine alone. 680ci tractor engine, ingests 3-4 gallons of fuel and 2 gallons of water in a 10 secound pull. 4 turbo's in series, alcohol injected, 250 - 300 psi of boost pressure, 150 mph wheel speed, 7000rpms, over 3000 hp.

Wow, 10k pound load and can still beat a Honda off the line
Awesome thread! Diesels are the way instead of these hybrids, but it doesn't look like diesel will take off here. Huge power, but not only would I miss the sound of the gasoline engines, I would miss revving it out. It's so much fun and enjoyment taking an angine to 7,000 rpm, and what a great experience taking it 8300 or 9000 in an M5 or S2000. That's the one thing with the diesels that would drive me nuts, no revs. Muscle car guys should love them though.
That VW Scirocco looks sweet.

Interesting dyno. For most diesels it seems like you don't want to rev too high so you can stay in the sweet spot which is low rpm. This car seemed to make and hold power up top. Usually when I have seen a diesel dyno you see it all start to dip as you approach the 4500 or 5000 redline.

My car, see below FYI

I will upgrade it to the stage 3: 260 HP min & 290 HP max...Wait & see. European Diesel Power!
If anybody has idea's I can move forward to the modifications, please be my guest to help, although ShifTech Engineering (Belgium) is gonna find the way to break records anyway...Thanks.
Wow. That's incredibly awesome sounding. NICE.

Just an idiot with a wrench...
Wow dude killer noises from that one. I love it. Its really the perfect daily car. Great tq, great gas mileage and if you can get it to sound like that why not?

Thanks for your comment So Live! As you say, this is a great car for daily use, at least in Europe.
Herebelow the conversion liter/km vs. gallon/mile :
For a trip Brussels - Amsterdam (distance about 154 miles/250 kms) at a cruising speed of 80 miles/hour (130 km/h), my car has a consumption of exactly 5 liters for 100 kms, no more no less. In other words, 18.92 gallons/62 miles. Or to make it easier for you 30.51 gallons/100 miles.
I used the following conversion hoping that I'm right...
1 Liter = 3.78 gallons
1 Km = 0.61 miles
So I can tell you that for the Power I got (227 HP from a 2.0 L engine), that's just amazing...As we say in French (although I'm Belgian): "Vive BMW !!!". All other competitors, even Mercedes or Audi are behind with such results. It's also good for the wallet/money ;-)
FYI - 1 liter Diesel in Belgium is between 1.26$ & 1,54$(0.90 EUR & 1.10 EUR)
My topspeed is (on German road of course):
249 km/h Garmin GPS (more than 260 km/h on the dashboard)
153 miles/hour
I'm even faster than a 530d or 123d :-)
0-60 m/h: 6.6 sec.
50-100 m/h: 8.8 sec.
1/4 mile: 14.8 sec or even less, depending on the quality of the road.
