    Euro M3 swap: oil temperature

    Hi to all
I searched before posting but could not find a definitive answer.
I just swapped a euro S50B30 into my 325i and would like to know how to activate the oil temperature gauge.
    Thanks

I meant the oil temperature gauge on the euro M3 cluster. The previous cluster did not have this gauge

How did you wire your oil temp to the cluster in your 328? Did you need to add a wire?

Yeah, you need to add a wire and a pin to one of the connectors. I don't have a wiring diagram infront of me, and I deleted that information from my memory bank as soon as I got my car running.

I found out today that a wire has to be connected to pin 13 of connector 1 on the instrument cluster. Now I need to connect it to the data link connector

On the 3.2 it's also pin 13- x16 (white connector), but whats a data link connector? I thought the wire ran straight to the sensor.

Not yet. I already connected a wire to the pin on the instrument cluster though and got the gauge to move

To be honest, i'm not sure. I think it is the big round connector on the engine wiring harness??

    yes i did it.

You must wire the oil temp sender (if you don't have one, you'll have to install it or get something similar) to the pin 13 on the connector X13 that goes into your instrument cluster. The pin is free so you don't have to cut anything.

    That's all

the wire goes straigh to the sender!

you don't have to drill the sump... that's the last thing i would do (and btw my engine is euro too)
there are aftermarket "adapters" around that can help you. you can find them on ebay or http://www.360infiniteusa.com/engine...r-c-22_33.html , for example
