UPDATE: my ticket is going to cost $140. I am just going to pay for it and not worry about it since its my only ticket in 12 years. Now that I no longer work for GM in Doraville and my new job is only 2.9 miles form my house. I donlt think I will have much chance of speeding to work.
the MAN and I had a little chat this morning on my way to work. So how much do you guys think a ticket in gwinnett is for 79 in a 55? I was at the 316 construction zone on 85 south. He did not write construction zone since it was 5:30am. Never had a ticket in 12 years living in GA.

Around the $200 range.

You can afford it.
And it looks like you have to show up to pay. Much as I hate Kennesaw for giving me a ticket a bit more than a year ago, they at least have an online payment system so I didn't have to hoof it to the courthouse.

yeah, the only one i have was in gwinnett. The judge i had was cutting back everyone's fines in half just for showing up.
and I thought 79 is bad, 83!!!! I checked on a few web sites and looks like possible up to $320 for the ticket.

I can say I ran into the nicest Virginia sheriff last Christmas. My buddy and I were racing along Rt. 11 between Staunton and Lexington late to meet a delivery guy and running a "mere" 88 in a 55 at 8:30AM on the 27th.
He left us in stunned silence with a "You boys need to keep your speed down. Drive safely now. Merry Christmas."

If you dont HAVE to go to court and your not going to fight it, You may be better off just mailing it, they charge you rediculous court fees if you actually go to the hearing and its really not worth what they take off the ticket. Its a waste of time unless the ticket is over $200, then it may be worth it to show up and pay the court fee if they cut $100+ off of it. Been there a few times....
Yeah, I ran into one of those "nicest cops" one time in Dekalb. I was doing 80 something in a 55 and I simply asked if he could reduce it so I wouldn't have any points and he changed it to 60 something..
This recent cop I was not so lucky.. He pulled me over in his (Hemi-powered) blacked out Dodge Charger, asked the typical license and reg., went back to his "devil wagon" and came back with a ticket and told me to drive safely and have a good day".. suuuuure..
you might get wreckless and at that point, the ticket will substantially go up.
From what I can remember reading a while back, they can give you a ticket for anything over the speed limit. Monetary fines are assessed for anything 5 or over unless you are in a school zone or construction zone, then it is anything over the speed limit.
But, I read that like 3 years ago researching my wife's illegal parking ticket in front of her work while she was dropping off cakes and desserts for Relay For Life. She was inside for all of 2 minutes.
just to give you some idea..last october i got a 70 in a 55 in atlanta and all i had to do was pay the fine online and it was 198.-- if i remember correctly..that was in my 97 silveraldo..lol
labor day 2006 i was coming home from PCB, doin about 85 in 55 and got nailed. cop wrote 69 in 55 gave me a break. i think it helped that i had bags in my car, the girlfriend was asleep and i still had NY plates on it from when i moved a few months prior. i ended up just payin it callin it a day.
i would go to court and asked to reduce speed to some where u dont get points..
if u recorde is good and no tickets for 12 years..i think the judge will do that for u...
u will only have to pay the fine.. but no points... if not pay or do No lo?... u can only use once in 4 years.. so think..
I got my first ticket in six years last month. 98 in a 55. They were kind enough to give me tix for speeding, reckless, and racing. ( I really wasn't racing.)
That hurt. I spent a night in the PC pokey with the drunks and wackos. My lawyer got the reckless and racing dropped. Plead maximum to the speeding. $985.00 fine + #500.00 lawyer fee + $125.00 impound + Tow damage to the M3 + six points + defensive driving class.
I learned my lesson. Next time I'm killing the lights and running like Hell !
