when i really put my foot into the gas, i can feel it hit resistance and sort of "click" down like the peddal is depressing a button beneath it.
does this have anything to do with performance? like open the throttle body a little more or something?
i searched and found a bunch of threads about aftermarket peddals.
thanks.

Yep it's telling the car to downshift.

I wonder what would happen if my car told me to down shift....
I think I would get scared

the rx7's i had always told me to upshift :rofl they had a little light built into the tach, with a buzzer, and when the car wasn't accelerating more(based on pedal position) itd tell you to upshift, and if you were flooring it, then when you got into the redline area the buzzer would go off, letting you know not to go further. was one of my favorite features of the car, not as tacky as a giant tach with a flashlight on it, but not so subtle you never noticed it.

I forget the exact name for it, but it downshifts as much as possible without going to rev limiter.

I have seen it referred to as the "kickdown switch."

its going into kickdown mode, it'll call it that in the manual for auto transmissions.
