Got a CEL driving on the freeway yesterday at 65mph. Does anyone have a program or code reader in order for me to pull the codes out of a 97 M3?

Fairfield/vacaville area. Thanks.

I have a code reader and the air bag reset tool.
If you need to rent it my fee is $20.

PM me if you still need it.

bmw community is falling apart :rolleyes

first off my garage
second my friend zacs
third mario
fourth edgemotorworks (they might still read for free, if you're nice)
fifth brracing
sixth pep boys used to do free scans

You're asking for $20 so someone can borrow your $40 tool to scan their codes, how cheap are u? It would be 5 minutes out of your day, if that.

You ever need anything done for your car let me know before you go spendin hella money at a shop since you don't think you can find breaks anywhere.

Anywho, Autozone will let you "borrow" their OBD-2 scanning tool. You're supposed to give them a deposit of ~$180 but if you tell them you're just going to scan it in the lot they may just let you use it. Depends on the worker. Every Autozone I've been to does this.

Common thing that actually happened to me-- make sure your gas cap is on right. :)

Hey thanks everyone so the replies. I went to Autozone and Kragen and like you said Autozone has one you can rent/loan etc. It was 2 codes, i wrote them down it was the O2 sensor responds slow, Tim you were right and something about circuit or something ill be right back.

Ok so it was 1)P0133 o2 sensor ckt slow to respond (Bank 1 sensor 1)

2) p0141 o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (Bank 1 sensor 2)

My car just hit 125K miles, dont know when the 02 sensor was changed last so im thinking if i change it, it will eliminate my problems. The 2nd one, what do i have to change to get rid of that, or do the work in conjunction? Thanks for all your help again.

I can definately see where Msfit is coming from, if i had a reader and someone needed help close to me i would let them use it for sure. If they gave me a little to compensate that would be fine, but none would be required. I mean its not like you use it a whole lot unless you have a problem car, or a lot of mods. :)

Yeah, i know some people just think differently. Im not offended but just a different mindset?!?

Yeah i tried to think of any dumb thing that would set it off, gas cap was the first thing i checked. haha. They did pretty much what you said, i told them i just needed for a few mins and they said swipe your card and hit decline, like $160. Wasn't charged but just incase kind of thing...

Yes, but not a whole lot is different, i was afraid it would be a horrid vac leak but the car ran perfectly.

Glad you got it read, Justin. I got a Peake reader whenever you need to borrow it, if you're ever in this part of the Bay Area.
