I was told the USB connection allows an iPod to be controlled using the idrive system, can anyone tell me if this is correct?
My iPod plays ok, but I am changing tracks on the iPod and cant see the iPod menu up on the idrive screen?

It displays through th "Aux" setting. Do you have the factory cable, which should have come with your car?

Thanks guys, yes, its a factory cable, I will have to check the Idrive aux setting, maybe it needs changing? I am not into gizmo's but it would be good to see the ipod menu on the Idrive screen.
This new M3 is for me, a great car, a real advance on the E46 model which I enjoyed for 3 years.
I have only had the chance to drive the new car for 300 miles so far, so the ipod is not really a priority, I am just enjoying the way it flies!

You can also play music loaded on a flash drive or small hard drive. I just got a 16 Gb flash and am going to rip my CDs at 256 Kbps. More on this here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114132
