View Full Version : Took the heart of a Fox Body Cobra...

Heading home from Lowe's, the nice was slightly chilly, but it's been some 2 weeks since we've had decent weather. The sun was still out, and so I took the long way home...

Came up to my favorite light prior to the on ramp from Rt. 40 to Rt. 1. It's a long sweeper and about 270 degree turn... As I approach, I see before me what appears to be an old Cobra. Looks to be a younger kid driving, hat backwards, as is the style. We take off from the light in line and approach the sweeper. As we do, some Silverado hauling a trailer gets in front of us from the other road that merges. Drat!

We follow behind at a reasonable rate, no tailing, no aggressive posturing. As we crest the top of the turn, I'm in 2nd at about 4k and am poised to take him down. Suddenly, he punches it and bolts off through the white merging lines!
No fair! Cheater I say! :nono

I punch it and start reeling Junior in. He starts with maybe a 2-3 car lead, but as I *snick* the Coupe into 3rd, he's down to a car.
Here I come!
Revs climbing, I crawl up next to him at 80ish, then creep by.
90...
100...
I've got him by 1-2 cars, then shut it down as traffic is fast approaching. I flip him the peace sign, but no dice. He flies by, doesn't look over, and begins weaving through traffic.

Here's my limit. All I wanted was a quick friendly one-on-one, but I guess he couldn't take the loss, and I wasn't about to play rough.

Oh well. :dunno Kids these days...

Nice run. I hate when people make you chase them instead of making it a fair side by side match up.

I had some peterhead do that to me in a white Z-28. He did a fly by on me so I downshifted. As I was catching up to him he started cutting people off and crossing 2-3 lanes at a time. I figured I'd let him go and kill himself without taking me with him. I guess he was too afraid to be beat.

Got some pics, Corey?

Nice run, Brian. The hat being backwards should have been a red flag that he'd not lose with dignity... :D

I do have some pics, but they are on my buddies digi cam. I'll have to get it from him and post some up before I possibly get rid of it.

I'm with John on this one.

I wear my hat backwards all the time, but I am not a poor loser.

C'mon... just because your hair is gray, Dave, I don't assume it means you're a slow driver. ;)

 at Moron #1 and #2!!! I knew that comment would get under someone's skin...

But seriously, I'll admit to some prejudice, I see a young guy with his hat on backwards, driving aggressively, stereo on too loud, and leaning slightly towards the center of the car-- free association has the first word pop into my head as "punk"...

Right or wrong, love it or hate it, justified or not justified, stereotypes sometimes get created for a reason... at least I admit it... ;)

Perhaps we should be Punk #1 and #2?

See, the difference between you and I, Dave, is I make it look good.

You... old and busted. Me... new hotness.

You- ghey, me- ruggedly handsome and don't need a hat to hide or enhance my gorgeousness... ;)

Ya'll busted - I AM the Hotness.

I dunno how young the ambiguously ghey duo, backwards hat wearin', punks are (:D), but I'm with Dave. I see some younger fellow with his hat on backwards, driving one hand at 12, leaning towards the center and stereo crankin'... one word comes to mind:

P-U-N-K.

and I'm only 28...

ANYWAY, this dude just had the backwards hat. I think he was too bothered to assume the "punk position" during these 15 seconds...

I'd hate to know what you'd think of me, if you saw me driving on the weekends...

I have my hat any which way but straight, and it says: "I *Heart* Jesus" on it. Or I wear a hat with "FBI" on it.:biglaughb

GQ during the week, slob on the weekends.. but I'm still AM the Hotness.:devillook

Dave spelled it "G-H-E-Y".

Maybe you're not as old-n-busted as I thought... :laugh

Trust me, my backwards-hat-wearin' look is FAR from ghey. It's hot. I make hats look good.

I do backwards hat, but it just means "I'm having a bad hair day."

I do have hair, BTW...

SilverStreak

 You guys are too funny!

Ron- I was hoping you'd notice the spelling... ;)

My bad-hair day hat is a Grey Courdoroy (sp?) Dale Earnhardt #3 hat I got down at Dover back in the mid 90's at a race... But my hair is so damn good, I rarely if ever need it... :D

I'm one of those guys who just looks great first thing when they wake up in the AM... :dunno

Go figure... ;)

I have kinda curly hair. Since the humidy has been between 93 and 140% all freakin' year long, my hair does indeed have its moments.

Plus I'm lazy. A hat, a t-shirt, my super crappy 5 year old Sambas (my street slippers) and I'm out. I went to the mall like this the other day. I needed to get some stuff at the Apple Store. It's in an upscale mall here in Atlanta. It's raining of course, so I park in the deck behind Neiman Marcus. I go bustin' in NM looking all rag.

MISTAKE!

It's the perfume section. About 150 hot ladies everywhere playing with make-up. This one ultra-hot chick and her old man, and I do mean old man, were in the shoe section. She was preen.

Anyhow, the contrast was hilarious, I may have even laughed out loud to myself. I never had to say "excuse me" though. I had a clean path all the way through and out NM.

Me have curly hair, too.

Recently, I'm going semi-messy with it. I guess that's the style.

:dunno

I can picture your NM scenario, having been there, myself. I can walk to NM in five minutes. :)

Was there a kill in here somewhere?

Ron17
05-21-2003, 08:22 PM
Yeah... so anyways, LY, good kill.

I know those CL55 AMGs are beasts, but with your car pushin' the horses it is on high boost, it's no surprise you would immerge victorious.
