as the titles states my friend has a saab 900 turbo and recently picked up an extra turbo from the pick-n-pull (i think it has 100k miles on it) and i was wondering because the side of the turbo says garret would it fit with the t3t4 maniflod on our cars. just a thought as it is a rather small turbo that spools up very fast

Yep you can do it.
However I like a VW VR6 with a big turbo way better. If I was going to swap anything other than my 2.3 m20 for the 2.9 m20 the vr6 turbo makes awesome power.
But, I rather like the BMW engines, and starting with the m10, m20 or m50 increasing the displacement and then turboing it...is the way to go.

there's a T3 turbo exhaust manifold on e-bay right now, if you're serious about the turbo, you might want to get on that:

If the turbo is a T3, it can fit anyone turbo manifold that has a T3 flange. Try and find out how much psi it pushes also. There is a turbo manifold on e-bay ATM and if going for like $80.00 right now.
Edit: does it look like this turbo - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Rebuilt-Garrett-T25-T-25-Turbo-Saab-900-9-3_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ017QQitemZ2 70234219010QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
If so, i wouldnt use it cause its to small.

That turbo should have a t3 flange. Make sure you look at the compressor map for that turbo and see if it is properly sized for the engine. Having a turbo that cannot flow enough for the engine is really lame. I've ridden in a turbo e30 whose turbo was improperly sized, and it was really lame to have the turbo max out before it hit 6500 rpm

Not trying to totally say no, but you will not easily get that past smog. The most legal way would be to take it to a state ref. once you're all done, but that doesn't mean you WILL get a smog sticker coming out of it. I'm still thinking you should go with a Century Kit or a motor swap, but that's my opinion as someone that still tries to take my car to smog shops. :stickoutt
BTW, the Saab turbo should be sized right, at least for low boost. The Saab motor couldn't have been any smaller than 1.8L, right? ;)

ya i know i would love a century kit but everyone wants those and i need money. im just waiting right now to be like that one guy on revlimited and just have one fall into my lap for 80 bucks but thatll likely never happen. engine swap is the same way. doug you especially know i am just looking for more power, we had a long convo about it, but i dunno i am completely out of money and i was just looking at the possiblity that it might because it was there and cheap ya know?
