i want that stretched tire look on my wheels
18x8.5 and 18x9.5
want to keep the OD of the tire above 24.6 but below 25.2
can i fit 225/40/18 on the 9.5 rims?
let me know what you guys think
on my 16x8 wheels im using 225/50/16 tires, and tirerack says thats the max width that size tire should go up to, but it looks like it can stretch a good half inch more and still look fine

You can fit 225 EASILY. I know guys who have run 195s on 10s without a problem, other than looking incredibly stupid.

aha alright
is there a general rule to use though?
like on tirerack it says from 7-9in rim width, i think, so does that mean i have an extra inch?

There is no general rule.
205 is pretty stretched on a 9, 215 or 225 should be pretty stretched on a 9.5.
Do you want "my wheels DEFINITELY don't fit without this" stretch or "yeah, it looks Euro" stretch?
By the way, I think the 18x9.5 +25 will fit with a roll and a pull. You make the tires fit, you don't just sit around wondering.

also whats the widest rims you can fit on an e30 and not have to roll the fender?
im trying to trade my e23 for an e30

If you don't roll the fender, you won't get anything near the best look. You absolutely, positively have to have it on the ground with the fender practically on the tire for a bigger stretch to look good. Otherwise, it looks like total and complete arse.

hmm alright thanks
did you go to bimmerfest btw?
so how wide of a rim can i go if i roll the fenders? front and rear?
would i be able to fit a wider rim with a 15", 16", 17", etc.?

I ran 17x7.5's ET 23, 225/40/17 tires on my e30 and barely had to roll front and rear. So you could go slightly less aggressive than that or 16x8 with 205's or something and 25ish offset you might be fine.
