I have a 1983 bmw 320i, it has the m-10 engine that has been built, not sure of all the work done to the engine. I race on a oval track, the car has many wins. It was wrecked and the the guy who built it isn't around anymore, so he was using a e30 or e36 rear end (3.15) and he modified the e21 subframe to house this rear end. well in the wreck the axles he made somehow broke. When i bought the car i ran the 100 lap race and finished 9th but wasn't on the lead lap. i was runnig around 22-23 second lap times using a stock 83 320i rear end (3.64) but the leaders were running lap times 18-19 seconds. the gear wasnt working . Is there another gear that would work on a stock rearend?

Somehow Oval Track racing and BMW don't seem to go together in the same sentence.

Can you elaborate as to what you need?

Almost all e30 and e36 ring and pinions can be put into the e21 diff case, if you can find the ratio you need.

bmw83320i,

That's too cool, circle track racing 320's! I wish my local track would allow non-domestic marques to race. It's a 3/8 mile progresively banked oval. Take a look at it; www.shenandoahspeedway.com (http://www.shenandoahspeedway.com)

Circle track racing 320's is a big thing in the North, as I remember. There was a Roundel article, a few years ago, about the domination of 320's on dirt ovals.

See you folks from NC at the Vintage on May 24th!
