Well boys, the results are in and custom tuning by Hiop Racetec ROCKS! Assuming that there is a 17% drivetrain loss my engine is pumping out 330hp. Quite the gain from my stock dyno graph. My pre-tuned numbers (red lines) were 261.8hp and 229.5ft-lbs. Check out the results below.

Hmm, very nice results. Torque curve looks good as well :)

Now i just have to find a Dyno near me :(

its a grouse figure for an S50b32. Mine runs flat 13sec 1/4mile and has 260rwhp tell more about the reflash please

These are the guys who did my tuning: http://www.hiop-racetec.com/
They email you a program which reads your dme (you need and OBD-USB connector), and you email them back your files. They need to know all of the mods on your engine and they write the program accordingly. Once complete they return an email with a tuned program which you write to your dme. Best spent 600euros so far.:D

im getting mine reflashed (again) soon, but this time using the alphaN program with no MAF, and done on the dyno in real time, and to see if i can turn off some of the torque limiters. last time i got reflashed, I never dyno'd it but it made great power early days, but it seemed the DME slowly reigned some of the power gains back dammit

How does the DME slowly reign in the power? Does the flash not over write the existing program and stay permanently?

If this is the case should I write the hiop software to my DME annually?

im no expert but its like the DME has some locked perameters and when u alter the VE above a set point it will trim off the fuel and timing. not sure but the tuning market may be better now than 3yrs ago

John -

Did you ever find out if the Siemens DME slowly writes over a flashed software upgrade?

Does HIOP have an official opinion on it?

Thanks!

I emailed HIOP to see what they thought of this and they said it was impossible. If you are concerned HIOP gives you the tuning software and keycode so you could rewrite it every year or whatever interval you wanted.

Curious why you're running in failed-MAF mode. It hurts part-throttle driveability, and the ECU has to fall back to a richer tune. If you're getting a lot more power with the MAF removed, maybe your MAF is faulty or you have unmetered air leaking in.

I have read about that 1st gear torque limiter, and that would be one of the biggest things I hate. My E28 M5 STOCK out-runs the Euro 3.2L in 1st gear! If I clear adaptations in the ECU, it will be fine for a day or two, but like you described, the Siemens seems to pull back on the reigns once it figures everything out again!

Glad to see someone has Euro 3.2L tuning available, though. Too rich for me right now, though...

i only got rid of the maf to see if it would run, and it run ok, sounded real good but used alot of fuel and the tune was not too refined (gurgle on deceleration ect).
Plan is to set this up properly rather than run piggy back computers ect. wont prob do so to march2009 cos i have to travel 600miles or so to get done and are too busy to well after xmas. so i guess watch this space.

What sort of mods, John? Stock cams, etc?

At the time of the dyno the only modification was a cold air intake. I have since added an Eisenmann cat-back.
