I have an AA short shift lever (just the lever) removed from a '93 325i. As you can see in the pics linked below, it's in fine shape. There is some very, very light scoring on the ball from regular use (it's a few years old) and the part that is exposed under the car is a bit crusty, but shifting action was excellent when it was removed. I'm putting in a solid race shifter as part of a race car build, so this one is available. The lever gives a pretty low knob and a very short throw, but very smooth action--no notchiness. I didn't have any noticeable slop, either. It's a great unit.

$65 shipped in the lower 48.

Here's how it looked installed with a TMS carbon-fiber knob (not included) (http://picasaweb.google.com/tammerfarid/QuasiSE36TrackBuild/photo#5025687819357591618)

Thanks for looking!

No. It makes sense to replace the nylon cup bushing in the shift carrier when you replace the shifter, but other than that it's a 30-minute install.
