Anybody running these tires? I just bought a set for the first time and wanted to hear any suggestions. I was planning to do one heat cycle next week at BeaveRun, then run them at Gateway in a couple weeks.

thoughts on pressures, etc would be appreciated. All are on 8.5 OEM rims.

I use the C71's for auto-x. I'm still trying to figure out the pressures but 36F/34R has been ok so far.

I run 245/40/17 Z214s on 8.5" wheels on my IP/GTS3 car. I'm running the C51 compound and really liked them when I ran them a week ago at Gateway.

I'll be at the comp school in June at Gateway. I'm the Advanced student classroom instructor and I'm helping with the comp school as well. Come see me and I'll share tire pressure info with you. I found a great setup after some testing.

He was so fast with his new set-up, he knocked his flywheel loose...:D

You know you should come to Putnam to make sure your tranny works, before the longer pull to Mid-O:stickoutt

I've used C50s and C51s. Hankook says they are happy at 40psi hot but they felt greasy. 38psi seemed to work better.

HA HA.

I'm still working on getting all the bits and pieces I need to put my car back together. I'm going to miss Putnam on the 17th for sure and probably won't make Mid-O the weekend after either....ARGH.

I'm on my second set and concur with 38 psi hot. I usually start out at about 32 cold and then keep them at 38 hot as the day goes on. Love the tires.

Just curious if anyone has an opinion of the 245/40 Z214 C51's versus a 235/40 or 255/40 Nitto NT-01 as far as grip and wear goes. All being based off of a 17x8.5" rim.
Thanks.

I tried the 245/40/17 C51's this past weekend. Very nice, faster than RA1's, but they like a lot less slip angle.

OK, Update....ran these for one heat cycle at BeaveRun this week. They are nice, stick well, we'll see if they wear like my beloved BFG G-Force R1's...turned some 1:08's at the Beav....not bad for a stinking automatic M3

Definitely less slip angle than RA1s. Much more like Hoosiers. They seem to be more forgiving than hoosiers though if you do get the back end out of wack.

I have limited experience with normal Hoosiers, but would tend to agree based on that limited experience.

I also found that the Z214's got better each session. Or maybe I was just getting used ot them and driving them better, who knows.

One other word of caution...the mold release on both sets of Z214's I've run was pretty slick the first lap or so. Be careful!

Yup. Hankook recommends a scuffing procedure of a couple of easy warm up laps, one hot lap, a cool down lap, and park the tires for a while. Seems to work pretty well, and allows the mold release to escape while on easy warmup laps.

Do you have numbers with the your previous tires for comparison? Were there any other setup changes you made to the car?

Thanks.

Never blame the equipment, blame the driver. The tires didn't get better, you did :D

Unless lap times are slower. Then, of course, that rule is the exact opposite. :stickoutt

:lol

If I beat you, it's because I'm better. If you beat me, it's because you're cheating.

Right? :devillook

Well, that is a problem, as I changed a BUNCH of stuff since last Fall.

Using PFC 01's front and back, only had them in the front before
Installed Bworld Brake duct cooler
COmplete TC Kline IP suspension
and the Hankook tires

Went from 1:11-1:13's to 1:08 and maybe a 1:07...I was using my stopwatch function on the trip computer, but times are close and this is how I did it for the previous times.
