Had to post this after EG has made no effort to rectify this problem.

I purchased a set of OEM M3 twisties from the forums and figured I'd get hold of EmotionGarage's mounting kit for installation.

1. Comes with everything needed for install? Nope.

They claim the mounting kit comes with everything needed for install.

Well, one would think that would include the templates, since they're needed for the install. However, they weren't included. I figured for $20, it's not that much of a loss. So I bought them from the dealer; $60.

2. The grommets that go into the rocker panels.

After drilling the holes required using the templates, I inserted the grommets that clip to the white clips on the sideskirts. This only cause more trouble. When I went to clip the sideskirts in, I found that the grommets DON'T EVEN CLIP into the white clips. They're so loose, there's not even a sound.

Obviously, I wasn't able to use these...had to go to the dealer and buy 22 grommets; $40.

3. Weatherstripping/gasket

After I got the appropriate grommets and put them in, I found that they clipped in quite nicely. However, this was not the end of my problems.

One of the sideskirt's weatherstripping (gasket) was fraying, so I figured I'd install the new one that came with the mounting kit I purchased. Pulled of the old one, and took off the protective strip covering the adhesive on the new one. Wish I'd done this before pulling off the old one.

The adhesive was useless. Not sticky AT ALL. I tried numerous ways of getting it to stick, but after taking it to a shop to see what they could do, all that was determined was I'd need another gasket. Dealer again; $65.

So after all this, over 10 days after I began the project, I'm left with a car I can't drive in the rain (in Vancouver) because the rocker panels may rust from the exposed holes. I'm also left with no choice than but to pay a shop to do the job since I've got work for the next 12 days straight.

All in all, I'm out $20 for the mounting kit, $60 for the templates, $40 for the grommets, and $65 for a new gasket.

That's $185...NOT INCLUDING THE $230 I PAID FOR THE SIDESKIRTS!

I'm hugely displeased. Their garbage mounting kit gave me false security in the assumption that I wouldn't have to spend anymore...boy was I wrong.

I have yet to receive a reply to my email stating the above problems.

Do yourself a favour, don't rely on emotiongarage's quality of product, or at least of installation hardware...you'll be hugely dissapointed.

Maybe their mounting kit was meant for aftermarket replica twisties and thats why it didn't work for you?

nope. Have you installed skirts before? I used their grommets, and their clips, and they didn't snap in at all. The clips just sat loosely in the grommets.

Emotiongarage's lack of response to my emails tells me they know about their bad quality mounting kits.

shame that it happened to you. Thanks for posting up your experience though I am starting to look into m3 sideskirts myself.

I stopped by EG awhile ago as my car threw a check coolant light. I didn't want to drive back down to LA, and I was mechanically not inclined so I had them take a look at the car. The guys that are there are very nice and courteous - I believe I spoke with Will. Give Will a call - he'll take care of things for you.

Will told me they were getting out of the retail business on bf.c, and were going to just focus on drop shipping orders for other vendors. I assume that they are one of the few importers of products from china/taiwan. This assumption is under the fact that they're a chinese company, with 1 guy in the warehouse who spoke only chinese. Just an assumption.
