wokke 05-01-2008, 07:14 AM I decided to create a web page for the documentation of my current project.
I hope to have her on the road by the summer.

e24mpwr 05-01-2008, 09:32 AM Looks great - I'm jealous! So that is the car I can borrow when I come to Dusseldorf? :)
Wolf, what size wheels and tires are you running on this project?

or maybe my M635 depending upon when you're planning to come.

I just see that I forgot some links - damned.
They are 9x17 and 11x17 with 235/45/17 and 275/45/17
Link issue fixed - now you can see a lot more pictures :)

do you spacers to run such wide wheels/tires? or is it an extremely low offset?

the front ones have an offset of 6mm while the rears have 8mm. No spacers.

storminnovy 05-12-2008, 05:29 PM I have a friend who just bought an 85 635csi and he needs to get new wheels. The guys at Dinan told me he needs to make sure the new wheels are hub centric, meaning they fit the hub perfectly (according to him) and that anything else (like wheels with spacers) will result in a less than perfect ride. I would expect the wheel seller should know this info when asked, correct?
Bert Poliakoff 05-12-2008, 06:08 PM Depends on the character of the wheel seller!! Some guys will tell you anything. Hubcentrice rings will be fine. biggest problm is if the front end on that car has wear in it, larger wheels and tires are going to have a pronounced vibration on he e28 based car. So, be ready for a suspension overhaul, and that means all the control arms, tie rods and center link
storminnovy 05-12-2008, 06:16 PM Thanks Bert. He doesn't want to go nuts, just replace the original metric wheels so he doesn't have to spend $400+ for replacement tires. I think he's looking at 16" or 17". If anyone has wheel or wheel + tire suggestions - fire away.
Wolf, just a note to advise you that something has happened to your wheel web pages. Each image is showing twice. Once with HTML tags and once normally. Here is a capture of the 17" page.

Thanks a lot for the hint. I should test my page also with IE and not just Firefox. With Firefox everything is ok.
It's fixed now.

this info is correct if you talk about normal spacers which are nothing but a big "washer". The good spacers mount to the hub (if thicker than 20mm) and have a center bore like the rim. The rim itself is mounted to the spacer which has a centric ring like the hub

HayekFan 07-15-2008, 06:43 PM Where are you doing the work? it looks like a prime spot -- good light and lots of space. Is it a warehouse or something?
wokke 07-16-2008, 02:18 AM Have you put the wipers on yet??
you mean the headlight wipers?

It is indeed a dream that finally came true.
I rented a space in an ex-liquor factory. It is a huge hall with a very special roof construction so no supporting polls are needed.
Right next to me is a very nice, helpful and extremely knowledgeable guy running a small "after work" car repair business. His main profession is running the engine test systems at Pierburg, a big German automotive company. So he has access to the most sophisticated machines and my only limits are time and my personal knowledge :)
I have a sandblasting cabin and since a few days a huge professional compressor (2 piston run by a 13.5kW motor delivering 18l of air/second) connected to a 350l air tank.
And the best part is: only 0.5 mi away from my house.

Very cool. Sounds like a great place to dig into a 6er.
Alex E24 E30 07-17-2008, 08:31 AM You scored a sweet deal on the working space. I love it.

wokke 07-17-2008, 08:37 AM Yep, I fully agree.
Shall I take some pics to make you guys really jealous? :D
I got a job offer today for a position where I would have to move away from here. Since I won't find such a place again I may refuse :)
Alpine31B 07-17-2008, 02:47 PM I'm not too familiar with all the different types of parts used on these cars but is that a nonfactory air flow meter? If so where did you get it?
