just out of curiosity... which engine swap on the e34 is plug and play ?
i know some components associated with the different engine need to be replaced too, but which one is the most user friendly and most yielding swap ?

I've heard M50 to S50 isn't too bad

By far i think the M60B30 to M60B40.
everything is bolt on...
but mind u, when u say "ease of engine swap" its like saying which will hurt less up your ass, the banana or the baseball bat? they'll both HURT!
lol, its still involved and it takes time...
as i JUST finished the B40 swap, i still LOVE it, i fell in love with my car again....was it worth it? hellyes!

The only thing you SHOULDN'T try is a V8 to i-6 swap, or vice versa. Other than that, things should be easy.
Check out RVA's M50 to M52 thread, and Shrike's M50 to S50 (or maybe it was an S52) swap. Antrieb had a great thread about his B30 to B40 swap, too.
Heh, actually, I know this goes against what I said, but I guess anything is possible haha

You can swap whatever you want - OBD1 cars have the luxury of just needing the engine harness really. L6 to V8, harness and ecu.

If you have a 93-95 525, the M52 swap would be a drop in. One sensor needs to be spliced.
I love the M52 with M3 cams & OBDI intake manifold!!!! Only 800 miles on it and now running it pretty hard. If I get the chip from Turner and raise the rev limiter plus bump the hp/torque, it will be pretty damn fast.

Just like mine... except the lack of a 5 speed.
