I think my M5 has an aftermarket header. Does anyone have picts from the underside of the stock S38 header? I heard it was cast, but mine is definitely tubular.

I thought I read somewhere that the S38 got a cast manifold when they changed it from the M88/3. Well, that's tubular then! The bad news is, I have a pinhole exhaust leak in them :( - Patrick 2DYE4 04-29-2008, 03:25 PM http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b93/2dye4/Picture358.jpg?t=1209497081 love this shot...all equal length screwbiedoo15 04-29-2008, 04:54 PM http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b93/2dye4/Picture358.jpg?t=1209497081 love this shot...all equal length That is an awesome shot. Just wondering, what are the bolt looking things that I always see on the tubes of the headers for? Goathumper 04-29-2008, 04:57 PM the bolt holes are either for EGT sensors or air injection. screwbiedoo15 04-29-2008, 05:00 PM the bolt holes are either for EGT sensors or air injection. ah, thanks mottati 04-29-2008, 05:02 PM i'm pretty sure they are for measuring CO when you're setting up the throttle bodies. Actually, you are correct, but to a point. The S38B35 had cast variable-length manifolds. Lost Cosmonaut 04-29-2008, 10:02 PM nope, sorry...coming to bimmerfest? Nope unfortunately. Maybe next year. Actually, you are correct, but to a point. The S38B35 had cast variable-length manifolds. Yeah, after I re-read where I saw that I noticed my mistake. - Patrick |
