So I'm not sure if this is an issue that has been discussed already, but it is quite pertinent to the ever growing BMW community in any regional area.

Many car forums that I have joined over the years have developed 'For Sale and WTB' sections in the various regional areas for those who aren't willing to ship parts/ don't have the time. bfc does not currently have this feature, but I think that it is time that we do. There are no drawbacks from this that I can see, and I have compiled a short list of why we should do this.

1. Less people screwed of their money: This is obvious, of all the transaction methods available, this is the safest way to prevent scamming of all sorts.

2. Much, much easier access to parts: Often times I (and I'm sure many others as well) have skimmed through countless threads in the general FS section, in which not everyone includes the prefix for the state of interest, which makes sifting extremely difficult. Some that are old fashioned like me simply prefer to be able to see the product prior to purchase and also delete the ever-long wait for parts.

3. More active regional community: aside from meets, transactions are the next greatest way to meet people on bfc. A tighter community means more productivity, as well as more knowledge shared and known collectively.

4. Regional Thread Organization: many people have WTB, WTT, FS threads posted in the general regional forums because of a lack of a dedicated FS section, and thus important threads regarding the specific community are washed to the second or third page, and eventually into oblivion by the countless numbers of people who would love to have a FS section to post in.

Of course, this would include all of the different regionals in terms of this request, but I don't have enough ambition to re-cut and paste in every other regional forum. Someone help! :D

Thanks.

Sounds good to me. I do have some parts I need to move...

Same here - I'd much rather meet some new people and hand them over in person than deal with getting to UPS/FedEx/etc.

Not a bad idea. Usually people just make threads regarding their item/s for sale.

Yea, it's a good idea for organizational purposes. But I've never seen a mod close down a "local" for sale thread in the regionals.

I think they're pretty good about letting the regionals control themselves. I'm not sure how it is outside of NE OT, but I don't see much mod interference with much of anything.

Augy is the NE regional mod - bf.c just doesn't know it yet.

Anyone want some 205/40/17 Goodyear Eagle F1's?

I've been thinking about listing the (4) 235/45/17 tires I have in my garage. There's 2 almost new Conti SportContacts and 2 Michelins that will pass inspection but that's about it. Being able to do it locally is even better than Craigs list.

Good idea and let's hope it will be implemented in NE. I agree other forums have them and much easier to buy from local members.
