Any of you guys see that in the paper this morning? As of July cars made before 1996 (OBD1 obviously) will get a pass on emissions testing.

What does this mean for me? Anybody say, "getting rid of the cat, ripping off ALL emissions gadgets and cleaning out the engine bay, M30 turbo project."

Not that it mattered since I have a hobbyist plate, but I did fail emissions and now I won't have to worry about it. Pointless thread, I know, but I thought it was cool. :shifty

Too bad this didn't happen two months ago, when I had to spring for new cats. :shifty

I'll just take it as a sign that the state wants me to install straight pipes. :devillook

Yeah but then we'd have to deal with the Vikings.

Emissions > Vikings.

You don't HAVE to deal with the vikings. Unless you actually care about sports :)

If you are a sports person, just take solace in knowing you'll have the Wild to fall back on. Not much to speak of for sports in Wisconsin.

You know what that means.... 2.5" straight pipe and delete the cat.

There is no need to get carried away, just move out of the Milwaukee area to escape emission testing :~)

These are the offending counties:

Kenosha

Milwaukee

Ozaukee

Racine

Sheboygan

Washington

Waukesha

I'll be down for helping with that project.

Those counties will still test 1996 and newer. 1995 and older will no longer be tested anywhere in WI after July 1.

Now if we could just get rid of the ridiculous front plate law...

Yeah, i have been running a euro plate or no plate at all for the past 5 years.
One time in my 330ti A cop pulled me over and gave me a warning but then stated that he thought the car looked alot better without it hahahaha.

ive never really been screwed with.

I don't run a front plate on my Ferrari, my 335i, or my 528i. Front plate free since at least 2000! Got pulled over once in the 528 up in Green Bay and he let me go with a verbal warning.

They don't usually screw with you over it but they always can if they want to, and that's what sucks.

My in-laws live in Green Lake county, and have never had emissions done. They don't even have testing stations. Is this being put into place with the new laws or what?

No, only the 7 counties that already have emissions testing will continue to test.

Before July 1, 2008, all automobiles and light trucks model year 1968 and newer were required to be tested every 2 years (unless registered under collector or hobbyist rules).

After July 1, 2008, only 1996 and newer cars and light trucks will need to be tested.
