'95 Cosmos Black e36 ///M3 in near perfect condition.
-------- Too be completely honest Im going to list everything about this car--------

The Bad just to get it out of the way:
198k
abs code (most likely a speed sensor)
due for a timing chain
waterpump was replaced at 100k with another plastic one, but will soon need another ($56 from bimmerworld) BUT the plastic Thermostat that tend to crack had been replaced with an Aluminum style Thermostat housing
Left side rear shock mount clunks (needs to be repaired w/ a welder, but I do have the replacement shock mounts)
Dr. seat vader has only 1 tear on it and it's by the left shoulder
...and ummmmmmm ...that's really it!

THE GOOD:
Car was to remain stock with minor upgrades.
No leaks on motor, coolant, powersteering, brakes, or anything under the hood.
Fully charged COLD A/C for the summer
Heated White Vaders for the colder months
Fully functional sunroof w/ tilt option
Exterior is in near perfect condition with very little imperfections
10 Speaker sound system with amplifier and 10 disc changer in the trunk
Spacious trunk that can fit about anything.
Z-rated 180mph+ spare tire mounted on a stock BMW DS1 style rim in trunk (unlike Vette's that don't even come with a spare tire)
All Tools in the trunk Toolkit + BMW Jack
BF Goodrich G-force tires up front (Rated #2 Best tire @97% on Tirerack right behind the other G-force tires rated #1 @ 99%)
BRAND NEW Bridgestone Potenza tires on the Rear (Never can go wrong with Potenza's for sports cars)

Clean Title w/ no leans
Only 3 owners ever!
Full BMW alarm system with EWS II Immobilization
2 BMW Keys (one with built in light)
2 Keyless Entry key FOB's w/ alarm arm/disarm buttons
1 Owner's manual binder w/ all BMW Manuals in it + more BMW information

**This car was NOT beat on, the following upgrades were for better looks and increased driver excitement when driving the car (the car has never reached the "True" Top speed and barely ever bounced off the newly increased Rev limiter**

UPGRADES:

H&R springs + Bilstein shocks (This car was aligned right after it had been lowered unlike almost ALL lowered cars out there that have way too much neg. camber that produce incredible amounts of tire wear right after they are lowered) PLUS stock M3's sit way too high and should have come lower from the factory. This upgrade reduces the gap between the front wheel and front fender.

UUC EVO 3 Short-throw shifter (valued at nearly $400)
+
NEW M3 shift knob with M3 logo on it
....This perfect combination makes the driver a better driver by not having to worry about sloppy shifts or blowing the engine by overrevving by going into a lower gear PLUS the drive is much more enjoyable by having a solid shift everytime!!

Conforti Performance chip ...best chip you can get on the market made by Mr. Conforti himself. Increases the Redline past 7000 RPM and deletes the 137mph speed governor so the "True" topspeed of the car can be reached

K&N Air filter

Hollowed out straight piped M3 stock exhaust.
----The '95 (OBD 1) M3's had one thing that restricted they're power.... the stock exhaust. The Catalytic Converter pinched off the flow of the exhaust preventing the car from breathing better. In this M3, the catalytic converters were hollowed out to allow the engine to breath better by letting free the exhaust gasses so it can take in more air and produce more power. It still looks completely stock and sounds stock until it warms up and then it produces an amazing Racecar like sound when you rev it and it still passes inspection since it is OBD1 !!!----

Do you think this thing could make the drive down to FL?
Does anyone have a clue as to how much s50 rebuilds run? This is a KILLER deal!

MtbikingKing27
04-29-2008, 12:36 AM
I would almost guarantee it would but I can't cause there are somethings I can't control ... Ahem, driving ability, accidents, etc... I drove this thing everywhere this past month including Maine and back and it can make it 500k+ miles if you're dilegent about the maintenance. The shock mount faliure happened just a couple days ago that's why I lowered the price down from $7500 to $6500 because I thought it might scare some people and I just want a quick sale.

Just curious if this happened a few days ago....did the other side suddenly break as well?

Link to thread where you are describing what seems to be this same car:

Your description:
It's a '95 black M3 w/ almost 200k on it. Just drove it last night, the worst thing about the car was the broken shock mount in the rear (which is common in e36 cars). Other than that it ran great, drove great, looked great, just a minor dings here and there. Did a quick visual check in the engine compartment for any major oil leaks or anything out of the ordinary, but it looked all good and he said he didn't bother cleaning anything in the engine and said he wanted me to see it like it was and he seemed like he wasn't lieing. The ABS light was on tho, but I didn't think that was that big of a deal with the deal I was getting.

Tell me what you guys think :)

Just seems kinda sketch, why not just say you bought it that way if this is the case, or did the other shock indeed fail too?

So both shock mounts are broken?

burrito007
04-29-2008, 10:21 AM
did you make any repairs to the car since you bought it for $4500 or are you just trying to make a quick flip?

MtbikingKing27
04-29-2008, 10:58 AM
When I bought the car it had the same clunk, I repaired it and it was good for a while and that's why I was selling it for $7500. Since this just happened this past week (just the rear left shock mount) I just lowered the price to a very reasonable 6500 with all the upgrades or $6000 without any, since I can use them for my other M3.
I'm guessing the next question is Why am I selling it? I bought it for a daily driver so I take my other M3 off the road and track it finally. Unfortunately I'm not in the position of doing that and on top of that I'm moving and would like to not pay the additional garage fee. The car is a very well maintained car with all the problems and good things about it listed above.
The only trades I will entertain are household like items since I am moving and will need to buy a few things, including an HDTV. If you have something like that I would gladly use that as part of the price for that car.

Thx for looking!

How hard are shock mounts to put on? I've seen them on ebay for $40 a pair. I've seen something about welding?

Also, have you checked the rear shocks? I had that "clunk" when my rear shocks were bad. The chassis was just twisting around.

Thx bro!

KenAllen, the rear shock mounts are not bad to put in at all. The rear left had the new shock mounts in, but the shock tower itself was cracked already and a couple days ago, it cracked all the way. It will have to be rewelded up. I just dont have the time. If you fix that and replace a wheel speed sensor for the abs you'll have a perfect M3 that would be in better condition that a lot of pre-100k M3's!

I'll give you $2500 with all aftermarket parts taken out. (Short shifter, shocks, struts) I don't think you can take the ecu out, so yeah.

Shock tower needs to be welded (huge job), new shock mounts, clunk, new timing chain, new speed sensors for the abs code on all 4 tires since you don't know which one it is, and 196k miles. It looks in great condition, but pretty broken.

Cool, good to know.

The reason the price is lower as of a week ago is because of the shock mount. If you know someone who can weld it is not going to be that pricey. This is the cheapest M3 coupe you're going to find in your region. Price is $6500 or $6000 with non of the upgrades.

ohhhh i know welders. from having subframe rewelded on my e46. I just don't want to have to live with another car that is going to creak and clunk every time i hit a bump, or have to worry about it separating again since the welders say it weakens the surrounding metal.

Excellent: $6300
Good: $5700
Fair: $4700

Fix the ABS sensor, Fix the Rear left shock tower, and fix the tear on the seat = Excellent condition.

+ e36 M3's go for more than the Blue book estimated price these days. You will never find an M3 with this many miles in this good of condition. Everything has remained stock except the suspension and shifter. Even the stock radio was never touched! Both original keys, both original key FOBS, all the manuals the car came with in '95. It's like you're buying the car from a dealership but with a few problems that are easily fixable.

You could probably never get it in "Excellent" condition. Less than 5% of cars fall under "Excellent". The entire car would need to be re-painted, the clutch changed, all new interior, glass, trim. Any cosmetics would need to be replaced and the car would need to be top shape.

Good luck.

That's completely redone. Excellent condition means excellent for the year and mileage, which this car is.

If you dont want to buy it that's fine. Go look somewhere else, but if you want to argue and spam my For Sale thread, I will inform one of the administrators and have you banned from this Forum.

Thx for looking.

Alright, I highly doubt this car is in "Excellent" condition by KBB. "Good" at the most.

The way it is right now, and since you're not going to fix it before selling it, it's in "Fair" condition. I would laugh at the person who buys it for $6500.

Just warning others, and maybe you will lower the price, or fix it before selling it.

X2

:shifty no need to trash his for sale thread. the man can ask what he wants for the car. If you have a serious interest in the vehicle and want to discuss price, do it off the forum via pm, email or phone. The car will bring the price the market will bear.

OP, good luck with the sale, looks like a realtively clean car for the mileage.

sounds like a trend that he's running. he's trying to sell a $3,000 bike for $4,600...everyone can dream.

I say that you hold on to the m3 till it's fixed and then get the money that it's really worth. All the children in this thread cannot afford it's actual value and this is why you're getting all the tire kickers and low ballers.
