As i sit here typing, right after getting off the road, eating some pulled pork and mac and cheese (yes, the same stuff from saturday night...thanks JT, Andrew, and the rest of the cooking crew!), im thinking about all the stuff that happened over the weekend!

First of all id like to thank Kai and Nat, and all the others that made it possible, you did an AWESOME job on everything!

Now id like to personally thank all the people who made it possible for Jackie and I to get down there. I dont want to name names, but in the spirit of being down south, "y'all" know who you are, and it wouldnt have been possible for us to get down there without your help, it was greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to seeing you all again next year, wherever the hell it may be, but come hell or high water, Jackie and myself will be there, and of course we'll bring Wolfie!!!

Thanks again for being such a great group of people to be with and share our love of the E24,

-Jeff

yeah man, what a blast! Ditto on thanks to all who halped make my wkend a great one, from Nat, Kai and their families and friends to Todd (Alpina csi) who had the one lens that I needed to make my car "whole" again. Clocked mileage is just under 1600 for the wkend and the car ran great! Thanks to Dave for the door cards and his good humor and chatter to fill the silent spots. I hope to see everyone again in the future!! Joe

couldnt have said it better jeff.. i second this... it was amazing... what a great group of people. Its a good feeling to know that i made so many new friends this weekend... jackie and yourself included. spending all day getting dinner together for the group was the least i could do, i wouldnt have been able to have gotten half of it done if it wasnt for JT with his leadership and Dave and Greg for their help getting the work done... anyhow... i was just about to do a post that said pretty much the same thing yours did... so i figured id just post here!

3 stellar years of SESF! 2009 will bring even more passion for the E24 & E63/E64...

In 2010 (late) Model 2011, the new 6er will be called F11/F12 Coupe/Cabrio respectively! I can't wait!!

Nice meeting all the new faces! Come back in 2009 and bring more 6er fans.:D

The new blood contributed more this year than ever before! Every year I think SharkFest can't top itself, but meeting all of you was a big highlight of one of my favorite years ever! Great to see Wolfie and all the other new Sharks, too...

I'm working on getting my pix together - will get 'em up soon!

Thanks everyone for your passion and appreciation. Without folks like JT, James, Andrew and everyone else that helps to make this event run smoothly, it would not be possible. We always develop a new dimension every year and we hope that there were no major complaints (though I want to hear them if there were).

I was standing outside the kitchen fidgeting with my hands and rocking back and forth like a mental patient at one point during the show and someone, of course I can't remember who, said "Kai, you worry too much." It's probably true... but I can't help it. Though I sometimes can't stop to smell the flowers, I get an immense amount of pleasure from knowing that things are going well and that people are enjoying themselves. If not for that, I wouldn't care and if that were the case, I simply wouldn't bother.

Forget about me; thanks to EVERYONE who came together for this event and helped to make it what it is. I'm so exhausted I can't stand, so allow me to roll into bed from the desk. I'll wait to see all the photos (since I hardly had any chance to take them myself)!!! :)

Here's some of the few I took... the panoramic is very photoshopped so if it looks wierd... it is...

Similar to Wolfies' comments...Kai and Nat, awesome time, you guys really put so so much into this unbelievable event. Both Sara and I really enjoyed ourselves - it was an awesome experience. Oh, and Kai, stopped by my mechanics' on the way home. Don't be blowing more engines just to help make these trophies. He said he has plenty if you want/need them. Oh, and Phil, awesome job...

I made big mistake of trying to go through NYC thinking would be ok on a Sunday (wrong!). 14 hours to RI. However, got 20 mpg, not bad for an "M" car. Was great to meet you all.

What's Jody doing with his arm around my girlfriend? Errr, I mean Jeff's wife?

I got home at 2am last night after about a 2 hour weather delay at RDU. Not bad otherwise. It was a great time. I don't know which was better, the people or the cars.

Joe, enjoyed the company. Meeting everyone else was great as well.

My total milage was 1200 miles & 43 gallons of fuel(at last fill up). That came out to 27.9 mpg. I need to go back thru my scribbled notes & find my mistake. Although, I seemed to get better mileage on the return trip according to the OBC.

Had a great time, this is an incredible group of people to be associated with. Also have a new found respect for the M engine & the music it produces.

I asked the same question of my wife when she and I looked at the pics quickly this a.m. For those of you who met her, you can probably imagine her response...yes, it was kinda like a very innocent "wouldn't you like to know...." Seriously though, that pic is the perfect example of the bonding that took place between so many of us. Really, it was incredible. Oh, and Jody, she is very interested in bringing her 6er to coupefest!

It was great meeting and speaking with you all (too many great folks to name)! Saida and I had a blast. I learned so much this weekend I feel as if I can write a book on the E24. It felt like meeting long lost family members... I can't wait for the next Shakfest! Special thanks to Kai, Nat and the whole Sharkfest team. I would be remiss if I didn't thank my fellow National Capital Chapter BMWCCA members James, Anita, David and Doug for insisting that we make the trip. As they say "With a Shark its roadtrip time ALL the time!"

Cheers!

id love for you to be able to come!

i dont think seeing all you guys once a year is quite enough

Hi Todd,

Trying to recall if we met as there were so many faces and names to put together. Meant to go see you after Steve H bought my Eagle F1's for the First Aid kit, but got carried away selling my own stuff particularly wipers which were in high demand. PM me if you would and can paypal you or whatever you'd like.

Oh, and glad that you are a regular out here as well.

Where does the first aid kit go exactly? I can't think of a place it would be made to fit, maybe just the glovebox? Mine still has its kit still sealed in the (now dilapidated) plastic film. So as a note to concours entrants, you should have your first aid kit re-sealed in plastic to be 100% original.

I belive that they go in the passenger side of the trunk, behind the carpeted panel as Bert mentioned. I think the Idea is that the jack and wheel chock would go in the drivers side compartment, while the first aid kit would go in the passengers side. I could very well be wrong about this.

it goes on left side above jack on my 88. Little + symbol marks its location

i have some stuff... nothing that good... its hard to try and take pictures with a camera that requires alot of input to take an image while driving... i was focusing on tearing up the turns and keeping my car from stalling at idle... not to many shots...

Hey, I love 'em all. I take what I can get!

What's Jody doing with his arm around my girlfriend? Errr, I mean Jeff's wife?

I got home at 2am last night after about a 2 hour weather delay at RDU. Not bad otherwise. It was a great time. I don't know which was better, the people or the cars.
Lee needs to post of some of those 100's of pictures I took!

Everything is in the trailer. I wish I could leave it all loaded until next year but someone needs to use the trailer next weekend. Let me know if I need to ship them somewhere or I can leave them stashed until next year. If someone needs them, I can ship them direct.

Excellent work everybody!

I've been reading here there and everywhere about how awesome this sharkfest was, and its great to see how much everybody enjoyed it and how it was everything and more you all hoped it would be. All the lead-up, preparation and anticipation everybody had seems to have paid of in spades!

I get excited enough as it is when I can pull four of these Sixers together for a run, so a lush green paddock with 57 or so all lined up would be unreal!!

Thanks everyone for all the excellent photographs, its great to see how it all came together, and there's a few faces in amongst the mix there that even I can recognise from here in the down under southeast hemisphere.

Regards,
Ellis.

Hey Guys/Gals, let's see Jeff D & Jackie, Dave, Joe, Andrew, Jody, Jeff B, Tony, Steve, Scott, Nat, Maggie, Kai, Anita, George, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. God I met a lot of cool people. It's very nice to be able to picture you all now. Anyone up for NWSF? C'mon, lets put 3000 miles on your cars and everybody come on out to the West Coast. It was great meeting everyone and had an outstanding time. Not a bad person in the group. I'll try to get pics up later this week, just haven't had time. We had some sun when I got back and since I didn't drive anything at SESF, except Anitas Alpina B10 (drool), I've been a little hard on the M6 lately but who wouldn't. Didn't realize how much I missed her. Thanks for everyones friendship and hospitality and I hope to see everyone again.
Regards,

Dwight

Dwight, Flying in from the left coast definately must be up there for the long distance award!! I'm glad we met and you're right about putting faces to the names. You know there's the rumor of the coupe fest northeast right? That's 2hrs from my backyard so you know I'll be there, don't think if I can swing it out west this year.....might have to bring a bigger bottle of Makers next yr!!

Thanks for the nice words to all of us mutual new friends. I wouldn't take mine x-country, but found 14 hours nothing, compared to screaming 5 and 7 year olds for 7 to the in-laws.

I trust my 6 completely to make the west coast and back, but it's a large commitment of vacation time. Pushing hard, single driver, 4 days? 1 day burn out recovery, 4 days sharkfest, 1 day recovery, roam around the coast for a couple days, 5-6 days home, 1-2 days recovery....that's about 3wks...mmm, still leaves me another 8 days of vacation....probably be costly in fuel....6000mi rd trip @ 23mpg= 260gal of fuel @ $4/gal (now)+$1043. then there's a couple bags of munchies, some cigarettes, some booze to put me to sleep at night, oh and a place to sleep at night....geez, this adds up fast! maybe I'll need a co-driver/partner...Don't get me started Dwight!!

It is real dedication to fly from WA cross country and not have a sixer available for SESF. But I think Tim Timmons from Sacramento, CA, drove by himself in his sixer cross country to SESF in 2006. Now that is real dedication, but then gas prices were about half of what they are now.

Hey, I can't blame anyone for not driving that distance. If I can make some good investments, and quit buying cars, maybe I could afford the time to drive across the country in the future. That's a lot of frickin miles. 5er Fest is in early June in Reno. I might take the M down for that since we have so much in common with the e28. It's about 10 hours from home. Wish you all could caravan down again. I doubt I can make it to North Atlantic Coupe Fest, or whatever it's called, that's during the heart of salmon season and I do have my priorities. Thanks again for a great time.
Regards,

Dwight

Well, if you are considering 5er Fest in Reno you might as well consider Pacific SharkFest somewhere near Paso Robles in Sep/Oct.
