I figured I would post this here first. Below are the details and a few pics. Those of you that know me and my M3 can vouch for it's condition. I have been on the fence for a while now but have decided to put it up for sale and see what happens.

I know the asking price may be on the high end of the spectrum, but the car is MINT!!!

I do not need to sell it and if I don't get what I want for it I will keep it. It is getting harder and harder to find super clean/nicely modded examples of these cars. You could buy a car that is not in nearly as good of shape and mod it and it would probably cost you more than what I am asking.

Very true. I'm going through the same ordeal with my car sale.

Gorgeous car. Gluck with the sale. 60k miles, what more can some1 ask for on an e36 m3?????

Hey I notice some change in the car in the penny keeper, that hopefully will be coming with the car right? :lol

In all seriousness this is my first post. I am currently either getting a 135i for some track use, or an E36 M3 to be made into a track car over time.:mad

What work has been done to the cooling system on this car? If any at all. Also any stero aftermarket done? Car looks lowered, is it?

What color is the coolant if you were to bleed some. Green or blue?

The cooling system is all stock. It has been maintained and only flushed with BMW coolant. The stereo is all stock. It is the HK system with 6 disc cd changer.

The car is lowered on Eibach prokit springs with Bilistein sport shocks and struts. The wheels, tires, suspension, and brakes have less than 5000 miles on them.

Any particular reason you are selling the car? Other than stated above? Any mechanical problems, sqeeks, suspension oddness (being that you are selling it with 5k miles on those mods)

How is the clutch/tranny any grinds, synchro changes? Slippage?

The car is mint! The only reason I have the car for sale is to replace it with either a LSB E46 M3 which I have always wanted or possibly a C6 vette. If I don't sell the car it is no big deal, I will keep it and enjoy it. I love the car but figured I would try and see what happens.

There are no mechanical issues what so ever. The clutch and tranny is as smooth as ever with absolutly no slippage. The car really needs nothing. No sqeeks or odd noises of any kind.

The only sqeaks and noises are coming from the owner!! Hey Guys I work with Mike and used to own a E36 M3 before Mike started working with me. I can personally tell ya the car is one of the cleanest M3s I have seen in a longtime. All his cars are really cleaned and well maintained. If I was in the market for a RED M3 I would not hestitate to by one from him.

(flamesuit on) Historically stock cars retain more value than that of their aftermarket modified brethren. Sure, one can be like "that is a F ton of mods!", moreover people will doubt the install, reliability of the Aftermarket add-on etc. A hair under 20k for an M3 1999 with low miles makes sense. 19k for higher miles with mods doesn't. 1MEANM3 not torching your thread bro, I wish you luck with the sale. No hard feelings.

That car is hardly 'modded'. It's just been restored tastefully where it made sense.

Oh, and since when is 60k 'higher' mileage??? I'd say more like the 'high' end of 'lower' mileage:)

Maybe I am just grumpy today, and if so I apologize. Hit up cars.com or autotrader and you will see more stock cars fetching the price they want than that of a modded vehicle. Also, I bet if you talk to ANY mechanic, track pipe with 02 sims can easily be considered heavily modified, even if the mod is simple in nature (read spark plug gap trick) , you are changing the dynamics of the car tenfold, drivability, mpg, and *hacking/working around* the specifics the ECU tries to maintain. .02

The opinion of a month old noob driving a tsx holds little to no weight. I really hate when this happens, if you don't agree with a price don't buy. Why are you even posting in here, you aren't even looking for an M3 ? You maybe didn't mean to , but you did flame

Eric98Sedan
06-18-2008, 12:14 PM
I call it 'lightly' modded. But it's not modded enough to alter the value, IMO. Cams and/or FI, now that's modded.

It's damn nice car no matter how you slice it and in the end, someone will gladly pay the asking price which makes the car instantly 'worth' that amount of money, regardless of what you (shdowbxr) consider it to be worth.

I really hate the view of someone with umpteen billion posts thinks he knows so goddammed much. I AM looking to buy, and if your shortsighted view of knowledge ='ing time on a forum then we must all bow down to the level of stupidity you leverage with your time on this forum. Either way his car is nice, I wouldn't mind buying it, I made an offer. If looking for an M3 is a requirement to post on this thread, WTF are you doing here? The whole point is, I still think he is asking a little too much. Simply yours, (a noob driving TSX who has worked on far more cars than in your lifetime) Tell me, if being a douchebag is a requirement of owning an m3, you have earned your car sir. 1MEANM3 my offer stands, and perhaps in a month, it may go up. Are you getting any leads local to the area?

I think that "flaming" or sh*ting on other peoples threads is just as bad as the bozos who chime in that the car is a "screaming deal" or how great it is.

IMO - no comment should be posted unless you have seen the car in person and can verify condition. (even people's idea of good condition can vary)

1MEANM3

No big deal guys, everyone has an opinion. Nothing to start an e-fight over...........lol

The car to me is worth what I am asking. I am always open to reasonable offers. When I modded this car I kept in mind not to go overboard like I have with other cars in the past. I wanted a very clean and slightly modded M3 which I believe my car is. And if someone wanted a stock M3 this one could be put back to stock pretty easily. I still feel sometimes that I may regret selling this car.

The fact is a few people that have posted in this thread have seen the car in person and can vouch for how clean it is. I do not even drive this car in the rain. I have had a few offers that are very close to what I will take and am considering them.

Thanks again to all who have complimented the car and those who have shown interest.

Oh, and it's still for sale so someone buy it already!!!!! :D

FWIW - I did email the seller, he promptly answered all of my questions, was very civil, and he seemed like a stand-up person. I offered him $16K and would fly out and pick it up. So, to those offering $14K or lower, probably will not fly.

Mileage, condition, mods, and maintenance put the car at about $14-17K IMO depending on location. Are there cheaper ones - most definitely - but, becoming very hard to find one with 60K and well taken care of. You guys have to remember, if not well-taken care of - you can easily drop $2-3K in 6 months on the car negating any savings over a cheaper car.

To OP - I think I found some locally - if the 2 I am looking at check out through a PPI - I should be picking up a '98 coupe and '99 'vert this weekend. Good luck with sale.

Thanks man and good luck on your purchase.

How was the M50 Manifold installed? Do you have the original wheels? Also, is the arched wing factory, or does it have the third brake light in the rear window?

Please clarify "Pretty much every option availible"

Heated Seats, 18 button OBC, Cruise? Obviously No Power seats, but it does have a sun-roof and HK. Correct?

Thanks in advance.

I installed the M50 manifold about 2 years ago using Eric's kit "m50manifold.com". One of the best mods I did to the car. It is a factory BMW arched wing but must have been dealer installed because it does have the 3rd brake light in the rear window. It was on the car when I bought it.

The car is fully loaded. Heated Seats, 18 button OBC, Cruise, sun-roof, 6 disc changer, and HK. The only reason I said pretty much was because I did not know if power seats was an option. It has the manual vaders. If there is anything else you would like to know feel free to ask. Thanks!

Thanks for the info, I'm looking for something slightly different.

I've had a Hellrot M3 before and always regret selling it. The M50 is a wonderful addition, I used the Eurosport Kit on mine, but I don't know if those can be sourced anymore.

Thanks again. It was really nice to meet you and your wife. I know the car went to a great home and hope that it brings you as much enjoyment as it did to me. Take care!
