Just because the car is registered in his mom's name doesn't mean he didn't pay for it, my car which i bought is registered in my dad's name for insurance purposes.

A crime against another human being with a reasonable potential to cause harm. My crime of speeding is victimless. I have never caused a car accident or caused any individual person harm through my driving habits. IMO, and in my specific case, it is an act (speeding) with acceptably low potential to cause harm.
